Retiree Allegedly Tried Snorting Cocaine During Traffic Stop

Don't break out the cocaine when you're pulled over by a cop.

A 73-year-old driver learned that lesson the hard way during a routine traffic stop in Seattle at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday night, according to police.

He was busted trying to snort a line right in front of an officer, reports the Seattle Police Department Blotter.

Cruiser dashcam footage shows officer Nic Abts-Olsen stopping the unidentified man's silver Toyota because its headlights are off.

The cop walks over to the driver and asks for his license and registration. He goes back to his patrol car to check over the documentation.

But when he returns to the motorist, he's stunned to find him trying to snort up a quick hit of cocaine from a glass vial, according to police.

"Are you kidding?" asks Abts-Olsen, as the surprised man spills the drug over his hands and the vehicle floor, according to the Seattle Times.

"You're about to snort coke on the side of the road?" he adds.

Police said the suspect initially denied possessing the narcotic and claimed he just had vitamin pills. But he then later confessed, per the Blotter report.

Abts-Olsen revealed to the man that, until he saw the cocaine, he was only going to give him a warning because of his clean driving record.

The man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for narcotics possession.
