Woman Sues 12-Year-Old Nephew For Wrist-Breaking Hug

Here's a reason not to hug your relatives.

Jennifer Connell, a 54-year-old human resources manager from New York, is suing her 12-year-old nephew, Sean Tarala, after a hugging accident that happened when the boy was 8, according to Greenwich Time.

Apparently, at the boy's birthday party, the child leapt into his the arms of his "Auntie Jen" to say hello and knocked her down. In the fall, Connell allegedly broke her wrist.

According to the Daily News, Connell is claiming that the boy acted unreasonably.  She told Judge Edward Stodolink that the 12-year-old should be held accountable for his behavior. She's asking for $127,000 in damages.

The boy's mother, Lisa Tarala, died last year. The boy's father was with him Friday for proceedings at Connecticut Superior Court in Bridgeport.

Connell also told the judge that the injury has had a massive impact on her daily life.

"I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up, so it has been very difficult. And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan," she was quoted saying in court. "I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate."
