Paramedic Bride Responds To Call During Her Own Wedding

A Tennessee EMT took a quick detour between her wedding ceremony and reception to help a few family members at the scene of a car accident.

A photo from the incident shows Sarah Ray of Clarksville, Tennessee, clutching her wedding gown as she walks away from two emergency vehicles.

Ray went straight to the scene when she received word that her grandmother, grandfather and father were in a car crash on their way to the Oct. 3 reception, according to News Channel 5.

Ray has five years of EMT experience with the Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services, WSMV reports. She met her husband, who is also an EMT, through their work.

Her mother, Marcy Martin, captured the moment, which has gone viral on social media.

Ray doesn't seem to agree with the fuss. Wedding dress or street clothes, she says it doesn't matter when you're a trained emergency responder. You just spring into action.

"We had stopped at accidents before and in regular clothes," she told ABC News. "It just so happened that this time, I was in a wedding dress."

"There are a lot of people that are using the word 'hero,'" Ray added. "I don’t think what we did was heroic. It's just anything that any first-responder would have done."

Luckily, nobody was injured in the accident. The bride still had her father-daughter dance and received her grandmother's blessing at the reception.

The Huffington Post reached out to the bride but did not hear back by the time of publication.
