Smash Mouth Singer Vows To 'Beat The F**k' Out Of Bread-Throwers

Somebody once told him the world was gonna (bread) roll him.

Smash Mouth frontman and published food writer Steve Harwell was caught on camera exhibiting some less-than-all-star behavior at a show Sunday night after at least one person chucked bread at him, the Coloradoan reported.

The band was performing at Colorado’s Taste of Fort Collins food festival, where one vendor was handing out loaves of bread free of charge. The bread was presumably not meant to arm agitated audience members, but that’s exactly what it did.

While throwing baked goods at someone is not exactly a classy move, Harwell’s reaction is nevertheless a little over-the-top. Check out the video to see for yourself:

In a profanity-laced tirade, Harwell informs the mystery bread-thrower that he’s going to “come find your a**, and I’m gonna beat your a**. Wherever the f**k you are, OK? … I will beat the f**k out of you.” Suffice it to say, we've seen performers handle projectiles better.

During his rant, Harwell leapt offstage, but security prevented him from going into the crowd. He eventually got back onto the stage and resumed singing "All Star." It should be noted that throughout the incident, the drummer never missed a beat.

Harwell’s onstage behavior made headlines in 2011 after he made crude comments to female concertgoers, kissed a female college student and announced that he was too drunk to sing at an Ohio State event, the Lantern reported at the time.
