Nearly 70 Percent Of Americans Would Rather Give Up The Gym Forever Than Forego Pasta

In an independent survey conducted in the U.S. at the request of pasta makers Three Bridges, nearly 67 percent of respondents said they would rather give up the gym than their dear, beloved pasta.

A total of 1,006 people were surveyed online with a multiple choice questionnaire, so the findings may not exactly represent the general feeling on this important issue of all 321 million or so people in the United States. And we're not sure exactly who faces a choice between a bowl of spaghetti or a membership-based workout.

But it is true that Americans are much more likely to continue their noodle-noshing habits than keep a New Year's resolution to go to the gym: One 2012 survey found that 73 percent of people who make a fitness-related resolution at the start of the year give it up before meeting their goals.

Noodle-lovers in search of a low calorie alternative to heavy pasta dishes might consider spaghetti squash, zoodles or Shirataki noodles. All three mimic spaghetti's shape and texture, serving as great canvases for sauces and pasta toppings with a fraction of the calories.
