Weird News is always super interested in pandas having sex. But lately, a few of them have been making headlines by going at it for a very long time -- in panda terms -- and then outperforming themselves. To commemorate their dogged persistence in preserving their adorable species, we created the Panda Sutra.
The panda at the heart of the epic sex romps is a male called Lu Lu. He was been dubbed "Enduring Brother" by scientists at China's Sichuan Giant Panda Research Center after he logged impressive times while mating with females Zhen Zhen (7 minutes, 45 seconds) and Xi Mei (18 minutes, 3 seconds).
Average panda sex lasts about 1 minute and 20 seconds, and it's quite a challenge getting the endangered bears to mate in the first place. Clearly this is a cause for celebration.
To Lu Lu, Zhen Zhen, Xi Mei and all the pandas out there having sex -- we salute you!
