Chew on this -- or maybe you shouldn't.
A bakery worker in Kentwood, Michigan, is accused of tossing nuts and bolts into granola so he'd get a break from work.
Ruben Gramajo, 22, was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of placing harmful objects in food, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Surveillance video taken Jan. 7 showed a man identified as Gramajo throwing a handful of nuts and bolts into a granola bar mixture being made at Hearthside Foods Bakery, MLive.com reports.
During questioning Gramajo allegedly confessed to tossing the nuts into the granola and said he did it in order to get a break from work, according to WZZM13.com
Gramajo is free on bond pending a court appearance on Thursday.
Hearthside Foods spokesman Carl Melville told WOOD TV that Gramajo's alleged actions led the company to destroy nearly 439,400 product items.
He said strict quality control kept any of the nuts-and-bolts-tainted granola from reaching consumers.
