For some cosmic reason, at some point in time, some people agreed it was appropriate to spend thousands on engagement rings. Because clearly diamonds are a girl's best friend, and the size of the rock symbolizes how much your partner loves you.
Right? Wrong.
In this sketch by comedy duo Fat Awesome, we are shown a proposal conversation with a little gender role reversal and vocabulary switches.
When the word "engagement ring" becomes "lunchbox," it's apparent just how absurd the pressure to spend thousands on a luxury item really is -- especially if you can't actually afford it.
And, honestly, do you really need that $8,000 "lunchbox" versus the $4,000 one?
