This joyful reunion was a long time coming.
Earlier this month, the family of Bailey, a 10-year-old Yorkshire terrier, couldn't believe it when the long-lost pup was found six years after he disappeared from their home in Austin, Texas. Bailey was discovered roaming the streets of Indianapolis when a local resident noticed him and delivered him to veterinary clinic Post Road Vets, reported CNN.
The pup was covered in fleas and had serious dental issues, leaving the vet clinic staff doubtful that he had a microchip they could scan. Fortunately he did, and the registered data remained current to his owners more than 1,000 miles away.
"(Bailey’s owner) could barely talk," veterinary technician Diana Redmond told WTHR, remembering her phone call with owner Grisel Jaramillo.
"I mean it’s just amazing it really is. Nobody plans on something like this right?" Jaramillo told WISH. "I mean six years later. That’s so amazing."
From the Facebook photo album the Jaramillo family created, it's clear how much Bailey was a part of their family before he went missing.

Indy Lost Pet Alert founder Danielle Emerson Beck created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Bailey's medical needs and travel expenses. The page raised more than $1,200 -- enough to pay for Bailey's flight home and his veterinary bills, the Indianapolis Star reported.
On Thursday night, an emotional Grisel was reunited with Bailey at the Austin airport. According to the Indianapolis Star, the little pup licked her face and is now settling happily into his old home.
