Now you don't have to decide. In the video above, brilliant YouTuber CrazyRussianHacker shows how to peel an orange without making a wild juicy mess.
It's quite simple. Hold the orange by its stem side and use a sharp knife to cut perpendicularly into the circumference. It's important to cut through the rind but not through the actual flesh of the fruit. You should be cutting about a quarter of an inch deep, depending on the thickness of the fruit.
Keep going -- round and round -- until you've circled the fruit in its entirety.
Now, use your fingers to separate the cut rind from the citrus. Use a delicate touch so you don't puncture the juice sacs.
Repeat on the other side.
CrazyRussianHacker suggests repurposing the empty, bowl-shaped rind into an orange candle. A tasty dose of vitamin C and a light to read by? The orange is mighty impressive. Whatever you decide, be safe!
