Those of a certain age might remember MacGyver, the special agent on TV who could make gadgets out of ordinary items. (And if you don't recall, a planned reboot will re-introduce him.)

 

This homemade key-making tutorial from DaveHax evokes MacGyver's spirit in a way.

 

Now crafting a spare key out of the original might not qualify for DIY of the year, but it sure has the Internet's attention.

 

You'll need a flame, strip of tape, a lid from a can of food and careful cutting skills.
