Chol Marial, a 14-year-old eighth grader in Florida, stands 7 feet 2, or 7 feet 3, depending on the source.
But in that rarefied air, does his exact height really matter?
As this highlight reel posted June 8 by CityLeagueHoopsTV shows, Marial can move with surprising agility. He can dunk (duh). And he can play nasty defense, swatting away shots as he casts a shadow over opponents that could cover an entire school cafeteria.
According to reports, he has a 7-foot-11 wingspan. The kid is a condor in sneakers.
While Marial would undoubtedly be a middle school opponent's worst nightmare, he was listed by MaxPreps on the roster of the high school varsity at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Florida, last season. West Oaks finished 32-4 and ranked third in the state, according to MaxPreps.
The viral highlight reel's YouTube description noted that Marial joined a Florida team for a National Youth Basketball League event in Columbus, Ohio, last week and "dominated."
Gee, shocking.
