The 10 Best Animal Photos From The Department Of The Interior's Instagram Account

If you're not following the Department of the Interior on Instagram, you're missing out.

The account highlights the bounty of natural wonders found across America -- from sea to shining sea, and everything in between. The agency, administered by Sally Jewell, overseas nearly one-fifth of the landmass of the United States, including 59 national parks.

Take a look at the top 10 animal photos from the Interior Department's account that have been posted over the past year, and follow along throughout 2015 @usinterior.

The morning commute is a little different at #Yellowstone #NationalPark. Cameron Patrick captured this photo on a cold morning -- just after the #bison herd had waded through a river along side the road. The bisons' body heat caused the water to turn to steam in the cold air, creating the mist around the bison.

This is something you don't see every day! A red fox dives head first into the snow at Kanuti National #WildlifeRefuge in #Alaska (@usfws). This photo captures the last half of the fox's hunt for its prey. This fox launched his attack about 10 feet from the prey. The bog turtle is one of the smallest, rarest turtles in North America. Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge in #Pennsylvania was established in part to protect the federally threatened bog turtle, which can be found in wetlands throughout the valley.
