Eric Frein Lookalike Gets Free Car Because Of Ordeal Of Resembling Alleged Cop Killer

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania man who was repeatedly mistaken as the suspect in the killing of a state trooper now has his own car as a result of the ordeal.

James Tully was questioned by police more than a dozen times during the search for Eric Frein (freen), who was arrested Oct. 30 after a 48-day manhunt. Because he didn't have a car, Tully had been forced to walk back and forth from work each day along rural roads.

His plight brought him wide sympathy and led to a crowdfunding campaign to get him a car.

About $24,000 was raised, and on Wednesday he used less than half the money to buy a 2007 Subaru Outback.

Tully tells The Pocono Record he'll use the rest to pay for maintenance and insurance.
