New Mexico Woman Tried To Sneak Gun Into Jail In Her Genitals: Cops

Cops say she's gunna be sorry she tried to sneak a firearm into jail.

KOAT reports that Josephine McAllister, 34, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, allegedly tried to sneak a gun into jail that was concealed in her genitals.

McAllister was originally booked on Dec. 16 in connection with fraud charges related to allegedly stolen credit cards.

The woman is accused of going through jail security and promptly throwing the gun away in the trash. That's where the firearm was allegedly found by an inmate, who alerted authorities.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that McAllister told authorities she hid the gun in her waistband, but a criminal complaint says otherwise.

"Knowing how in depth the PTC (Prisoner Transport Center) officers search prisoners, there is no way that they could have missed it on her waist band,” a deputy wrote in the complaint.

McAllister now faces a charge of bringing contraband into a place of imprisonment.

It was not too long ago that another woman tried the same trick.

In 2013, Christie Harris of Oklahoma was sentenced to 25 years for trying to sneak a gun into jail via her vagina. She also tried to sneak meth in her anus.

Jeremiah Patterson Found Naked At CVS Curled Up On Doggie Beds

Jeremiah Patterson must have been dog tired last Tuesday evening.

Police in Lutz, Florida, have accused Patterson of stripping naked before going to sleep on three doggie beds he found in his local drug store.

Patterson, 22,allegedly entered a CVS store around 8 p.m., went to the men's room and dropped his drawers, The Smoking Gun reports.

Once Patterson was in the buff, witnesses said he walked out of the bathroom and straight to the pet section. Then he allegedly grabbed three doggie beds, took them back to the men's room and laid on top of them, according to TampaBay.com.

Patterson, who the police report notes is homeless, is now facing charges for lewd or lascivious exhibition. He's also charged with retail petty theft, since the store can no longer sell the doggie beds, according to the Bradenton Herald.

He remains locked up on $10,150 bond, according to The Smoking Gun.

The Floriduh blog points out that Lutz, Florida, is home to at least two clothing-optional communities, but that CVS is not one of them.

Deer Fights Back Against Hunter Who Shot Her

A Wisconsin bow hunter had the tables turned on him when a deer he shot with an arrow fought back and sent him to the hospital.

The 72-year-old shot the deer in the leg, wounding her, near Taycheedah on Friday.

When he attempted to track the doe, she “leaped out and went after him” while he was amidst “some thick brush” Fond du Lac Sheriff's Officer Jeff Bonack told the Fond du Lac Reporter. The feisty deer then head-butted his leg and fled the scene.

The hunter was taken to a hospital, but his condition has not been released.

This is only the latest incident of deer revolting against their human oppressors. In the past two months, deer have busted into homes in New York and and New Jersey, in one case wreaking havoc in a bathroom. And in 2013, a buck jumped through the window of a minivan and out the other, shattering glass over a terrified family.

And of course, let us not forget this video.

Brewery Apologizes For Naming A Beer After Gandhi

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut brewery apologized to Indians offended that the company is using Mohandas Gandhi's name and likeness on one of its beers.

New England Brewing Co. sells an India pale ale it calls Gandhi-Bot. The label features a cartoon image depicting a robot version of the late Indian leader, who favored prohibition.

"We apologize to any Indian people that find our Gandhi-Bot label offensive. Our intent is not to offend anyone but rather pay homage and celebrate a man who we respect greatly," the Woodbridge-based company wrote over the weekend on its Facebook page.

The brewery's website promotes the Gandhi-Bot beer, which has been distributed about five years, as "fully vegetarian" and "an ideal aid for self-purification and the seeking of truth and love."

Critics in the U.S. and India have complained about the commercial use of Gandhi, revered for leading India to independence through nonviolence.

Here's a photo of the Gandhi-Bot beer can (story continues):

gandhibot

Proloy K. Das, a Hartford lawyer, tweeted that Connecticut "should be ashamed to be home" to New England Brewing.

He told The Associated Press that the issue is not just the use of Gandhi's name, but also his depiction as something comparable to a robot. "There's really no spin you can put on this," he said.

New England Brewing referred questions to its posting on Facebook, where it also urged users not to use its page to argue with those upset by the label.

"We want to do our best to be culturally sensitive and respectful," the brewery said.

New England Brewing posted its apology on Saturday, at about the time criticism began mounting. Newspapers in India reported that a lawyer has brought a case against the beer company in Hyderabad, saying the use of Gandhi's image violates Indian law as an insult to the nation's honor.

State Rep. Prasad Srinivasan, a Glastonbury Republican who is from India, said he was "beyond appalled" at the use of Gandhi's image.

"How this celebrates the apostle of peace by putting his image on a beer can boggles one's mind," he said.

Tushar Gandhi, the Indian leader's great-grandson, said Gandhi "abhorred alcohol drinking" and spoke against it, The Telegraph newspaper reported. Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Gandhi's grandson, was quoted as calling the use of his image "crass and silly."

This Gas Station Bathroom Is Nicer Than Every Other Bathroom

The next time you need to pull over for a pit stop, just make sure you're in the Philippines. That's where TV personality Jason Godfrey discovered this move-in ready restroom... at a Shell gas station.

Though it looks pretty ordinary from the outside, Godfrey assures us that what lies behind the bathroom door is "ridiculous." Indeed it is, as you can see in the video above, with its framed paintings, wood paneling, stacks of books and lamps, among other things. There's even music playing. Godfrey adds, "This toilet is better than my room. It's better than my entire apartment, actually."

We couldn't agree more. It even looks bigger than most NYC apartments, and just think of how easy it would be to tidy up! Hey, Godfrey, is there a listing price on this yet?

Coronal Hole Spotted On The Sun Is Hundreds Of Times Bigger Than The Earth

Talk about big!

A dark hole hundreds of times bigger than the Earth has been spotted on the surface of the sun. A photo of the enormous "coronal hole" (below) was snapped by a camera aboard NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory on Jan. 1, 2015.

(Story continues below image.)

The irregularly shaped hole spans about 400,000 kilometers (250,000 miles) at its widest point, said Dr. C. Alex Young, associate director for science for the heliophysics division at the space agency's Goddard facility in Greenbelt, Maryland. Its total surface area is about 410 times that of the Earth, he said (see below for size comparison).

(Story continues below image.)

This Jan. 3, 2015 photo combines three wavelengths of light and includes images of the Earth and Jupiter to give a sense of the size of the coronal hole.

Coronal holes were first seen in photos taken by NASA astronauts in the 1970s. They aren't holes in the usual sense. Rather, they're colder, cooler regions where the sun's magnetic field reaches out into space. The holes can remain visible for five years or longer, according to NASA.

This isn't the only spectacular photo of the sun issued by NASA in recent weeks. Last December, the agency released this eye-popping X-ray portrait of the sun.

Casey Molter Trashes 'Psychic' Girlfriend's Car After Granny Sex Dream Prediction: Cops

A Florida man's reaction to the premonitions of his allegedly psychic girlfriend was anything but predictable.

Police in Vero Beach said Casey Molter, 28, trashed his girlfriend's 1997 Nissan Altima after the so-called psychic allegedly told him his dead grandmother would appear in his dreams and, as the report put it, "commit an unusual sex act to him involving an adult erotic device," the Mirror reports.

The incident happened Nov. 24, but recently came to light via TCPalm.com.

Officials were called to the couple's apartment around 7:45 a.m. to break up a physical altercation between Molter and his girlfriend.

During the fight, the suspect allegedly damaged his girlfriend's car and smashed her cell phone.

After the police and the girlfriend left, Molter allegedly damaged the car further by smashing a side mirror on the passenger side, deflating the tires and flinging a used condom onto the car.

Molter allegedly wrote "love notes" on the car windows using creams and lotions, RawStory.com reports.

When police questioned Molter, he said his girlfriend is a "spiritual person" who can tell people about their dreams.

Molter told police that when his girlfriend told him that his grandmother would soon be appearing in one and using a sex toy on him to boot, he could not get the image out of his head and "he snapped," according to the Metro.

Molter was arrested on a criminal mischief charge and released on $500 bond.

He is due in court later this month.

Dog (Understandably) Freaks Out Over Furby

Furbies seemed pretty cool in 1998, but now they're just terrifying.

When Max the Siberian husky puppy discovered there was a furry owl/hamster creature hanging out in his house and talking to him, he understandably freaked out.

Max sniffed, barked and charged, but his Furby friend didn't budge.

Here's to hoping this Furby finds its way to eBay soon.

Cops Seek 'Poopgangsta' Tyrice Bowens In Christmas Eve Shooting

A Cleveland man with an unusual social media handle is the prime suspect in a Christmas Eve shooting.

Tyrice Bowens, who goes by the Twitter handle "poopgangsta," allegedly shot a patron at the Blueprint Lounge in Euclid on Dec. 24.

Bowens, 26, is accused of attempted murder. The victim was shot once in the leg and stomach and had to undergo surgery, the Smoking Gun reports. Shots were also fired into surrounding buildings.

The Euclid Police Department released a photo of the suspect on its Facebook page Dec. 31, and it has asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them.

Bowens hasn't tweeted since January of 2014. His Instagram account, which also bore the handle "poopgangsta," has been deleted. It's not clear why the suspect uses that moniker, but the police department listed it as an alias on their post.

Cleveland.com reports that Bowens has a criminal history, including a 2011 burglary conviction. He is accused in a 2013 armed robbery, in which he and two other men allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint.

Court records show that Bowens also has pending charges for a July 2013 arrest in connection with aggravated rioting, resisting arrest and escape.

Taco Bell Fiercely Petitions For Taco Emoji. Here's How You Can Help.

There aren't many ways to communicate your desperate need for a Crunchy Taco Supreme other than to voice your desire outright.

Taco Bell has a deep understanding of this struggle and is aiming to remedy it. The late night taco joint posted a petition on Change.org to call for taco lovers to unite in their push for a taco emoji. With this, a simple press of a button could convey a taco hankering to your friends and loved ones. "America wants a taco emoji," the petition reads. "America needs a taco emoji."

taco bell emoji

This petition was first launched in November 2014, when The Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organization that controls the coding standards for emojis, announced 37 new emoji characters as candidates for their newest release, Unicode 8.0. The organization disclosed this information on its blog teasing an image of a taco emoji. Other proposed emojis include a scorpion (definitely necessary), a cricket bat and ball, and a menorah figure (a little late, no?). The taco emoji is in competition with seven other images that fall into the food and drink category, including a hot dog, burrito and cheese wedge. The updated version is slated to be launched in the middle of 2015.

Taco Bell's entreaty highlights a couple of discrepancies in the emoji arsenal that is currently available.

Why do pizza and hamburger lovers get an emoji but taco lovers don’t? Here’s a better question: why do we need four different types of mailboxes? Or 25 different types of clocks? Or a VCR tape and floppy disk emoji? No one even uses those things anymore.

As of now, Taco Bell's campaign has 21,264 signatures and needs an additional 3,736. The fast food company is fiercely lobbying for support, asking its Twitter followers for help as recently as January 4.

If you want to be part of the movement and give the world the taco emoji it so badly deserves, you can sign the petition here.

'Eyeball' Man Jason Barnum Sentenced For Shooting Officer

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A man nicknamed "Eyeball" because of a tattoo that darkened the white part of his right eye pleaded guilty to shooting an Anchorage police officer.

Jason Barnum was sentenced to 22 years in prison Friday in Anchorage Superior Court. KTUU reported (http://bit.ly/147jkRS ) the 30-year-old pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary and third-degree felony in possession of a weapon.

The shooting happened when police were investigating home burglaries and car thefts. Officers were inspecting a hotel in 2012 when Barnum opened fire from a bathroom. Two officers shot back, striking Barnum in the arm, and one officer was injured. Barnum later admitted to the committing thefts and burglaries to feed a heroin addiction.

In court, Anchorage Police Department Chief Mark Mew took the stand to argue for a harsh sentence. "I think Jason Barnum decided a long time ago that his life was about being hostile to people," Mew said.

Tattoos of skulls cover Barnum's head, which didn't go unnoticed in court.

"I'd like you to take a look at Mr. Barnum," Mew said. "He has the right to do this to himself and to express himself. We can't sentence him for that, but I think we can consider a guy's attitude and his behavior."

But when Barnum took the stand, he was reflective about what happened.

"I'm humbled by what the chief said. I was out there pretty much running crazy," Barnum told the court. "Everybody knows that I'm not the nicest guy. I understand that what I did was wrong. I can't take none of it back."

In explaining his behavior, Barnum deflected some blame to the Alaska Department of Corrections, saying he left prison in 2010 with nowhere to go and nothing to do. "I was living on the streets, and I tried to get a job, but of course my beautiful face didn't allow me to do that," he said.

Anchorage Superior Court Judge Jack Smith said the blame falls on Barnum, whether the system failed, the drugs made him act erratically, or anything else. However, he said the sentence this time includes parole and will likely provide more assistance when he is released and in his mid-fifties.

"It's going to be difficult, but hopefully it'll be easier than the last time," Smith said.

Barnum already served two years of his sentence.

Nikes In Lieu Of Bail? I'm Cool With That, Judge Says

Go ahead, get your kicks -- they may help you in court.

They certainly helped Jason Duval, an alleged drug user who convinced a judge to take his new pair of Nike sneakers in lieu of his bail.

The judge, Douglas Stoddart, apparently didn't mind that the Framingham, Massachusetts suspect was broke, according to My Fox Boston.

Duval was in court Friday to face drug charges from 2012, which were set to be dismissed once he paid court fees. According to WCVB, a warrant was issued for Duval because he owed $450 in court fees stemming from those charges. But the suspect didn't have the money. He didn't like the judge's option of going to jail for a few days to cover court costs.

"I'll give you a chance to be creative," Stoddart said, according to MetroWest Daily News. "If you can come up with a creative idea to convince me that you'll come back, I'll work with you."

After a short break, Duval decided to hand over the pair of Nikes -- a Christmas present valued at $85 -- as collateral.

"OK, we'll take them," Stoddart said.

The judge took the shoes as bail and said that Duval would get them back after he paid $100 in $25 weekly increments, starting on Jan. 13, according to WCVB. Stoddart also said he'd hand over the kicks if Duval did 10 hours of community service in that time frame.

If he succeeds, his possession charges stemming from 2012 will be dismissed.

Meet The Giant Snowless Snowman Who's Been Delighting Drivers For 2 Decades

When you enter this New Mexico city during the holiday season, you might get an awesome greeting -- Wild West style.

For the past 20 years, the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) has put smiles on drivers' faces with a giant "snowman" that's made with an unusual component, common in the area -- tumbleweed. The 13-foot decoration stands along Interstate 40, generating honks from delighted commuters every day.

snowman

"The first time I saw it, I didn’t believe what I saw -- a tumbleweed snowman," Ronnie Carrillo, an Albuquerque resident, told Fox News. "But now this is our holiday icon."

snowman

While some say the snowman started as a joke, the tradition has turned into a pretty serious affair, with a great deal of effort going into its creation, Jeffrey S. Willis of AMAFCA told The Huffington Post in an email.

The AMAFCA crew aims to create a bigger decoration each year, collecting the largest tumbleweeds they're able to find growing in their flood-control facilities. The department welder, James Moya, then creates the structure that supports the friendly giant.

And though Albuquerque only receives an average annual snowfall of less than 10 inches, Willis told HuffPost that the tumbleweed snowman has proved that you don't need any flurries to have some winter fun.

Hot-Tubbing Burglar Caught Naked In Home: Cops

KEIZER, Ore. (AP) — Police near Salem, Oregon, say they arrested a naked man after he broke into two homes, drank booze and used a hot tub at one of them.

Officers received a 911 call early Sunday from a woman who was house-sitting in Keizer when she was awakened by noises coming from the laundry room. As she went to check it out, the laundry room door slammed, so she grabbed a knife and called police and her husband.

Police found the burglar inside, naked, and arrested him without incident. Investigators determined that he climbed in through a back window after removing a screen.

They also noticed that screens had been removed from windows at a neighbor's home. Police say the suspect had burglarized that home, drinking the homeowner's alcohol and using the hot tub and shower.

Your Sugar Might Be Made With Animal Bones. Sorry, Vegans.

Marshmallows, beer and even some orange juices are not considered vegan foods. And, depending on one's definition of "vegan," neither are some sugars.

Refined sugar -- the kind that's added to coffee, cookie dough and cake batter -- is made from either sugarcane or sugar beets. The two have near-identical nutritional facts and tastes, and they are used about equally in the States. But, their refining process is different. To manufacture table sugar from sugarcane, sugarcane stalks are crushed to separate the juice from the pulp. The juice is processed and heated to crystalize, and is then filtered and bleached with bone char, which results in sugar's pristine white color.

sugarcane stalks

This is what sugarcane looks like.

Bone char filters are not used to process beet sugar, however, because this type of sugar doesn't require the same extensive decolorization. Instead the beets' juice is removed through use of a diffuser and mixed with additives to make the juice crystalize.

sugar beet

This is what sugar beets look like.

In the U.S., sugar companies use bone char derived from cows for this filtering and bleaching process. To make bone char, animal bones are heated at incredibly high temperatures and are reduced to carbon before being used in a refinery. The sugar does not actually contain bone char particles, but it does come into contact with them. "Refined sugar does not contain any bone particles and is therefore kosher certified. The bone char simply removes impurities from the sugar, but does not become a part of the sugar," Caroline Pyevich reports in The Vegetarian Journal.

It gets even more confusing: While bone char is used to bleach and filter cane sugar, not all cane sugar is refined with bone char. Some companies rely on alternatives like granular carbon, which does not contain animal products, during the filtering process. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference by looking at the sugar or by tasting it, and loose sugar packets and packaged foods with non-descriptive ingredients can make it impossible for a person to distinguish sugar refined with bone-char from its counterpart.

Animal-lovers may assume the solution is as simple as using beet sugar instead of cane, but the two perform differently in the kitchen, making recipe adaptations and substitutions a hassle. Plus, it's not easy to decide which kind of sugar goes into your food when you're not making it yourself.

There are some certified cane sugars that do not use bone char in their processing (check out this list from Peta and this list from The Vegetarian Resource Group). Be sure to check labels (remember: beet sugar will never contain bone char) and contact manufacturers with any questions.

Tomb Of Egyptian Queen Khentakawess III Discovered In Abusir

A long-forgotten queen of Egypt has been rediscovered by Czech archaeologists, who unearthed her 4,500-year-old tomb at the Abusir necropolis just outside of Cairo.

Inscriptions on the tomb indicate her name was Khentakawess, or Khentkaus, and that she was married to the Pharaoh Neferefre, also known as King Raneferef, who ruled briefly during the 5th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, the team announced on Sunday.

Since there have been two other queens with the same name, the archaeologists are calling her Khentakawess III, or Khentkaus III, according to AFP.

khentakawess tomb

It's the "first time we have discovered the name of this queen who had been unknown before the discovery of her tomb," antiquities minister Mamdouh al-Damaty said in a statement cited by AFP. "This discovery will help us shed light on certain unknown aspects of the Fifth Dynasty, which along with the Fourth Dynasty, witnessed the construction of the first pyramids."

Inscriptions also identify her as "wife of the king" and "mother of the king."

Miroslav Barta, head of the team that made the discovery, told the EFE news agency that Khentakawess III would have been the mother of Pharoah Menkahur in addition to being wife of Neferefre.

While the tomb had long ago been raided by grave robbers, the archaeologists found a number of statuettes as well as utensils made of limestone and copper, the Czech Institute of Egyptology said in a news release:

tomb objects

"The tomb is very similar to the rest of the burial in the cemetery which was unearthed by the Czech mission in the '90s," Kamal Wahid, Giza Antiquities director, told the Luxor Times. "The upper part is a mastaba and a small offerings chapel and the burial chamber in the lower part which is reached through a shaft.”

Neferefre's reign as pharaoh is believed to have lasted just two or three years, according to Tour Egypt, which may be why his pyramid was never completed. Today, it's often referred to as "the unfinished pyramid."

Abusir is located just to the south of the Giza complex famous for the Great Pyramid, and just to the north of Saqqara, home of the step pyramid of Djoser.

Gaston Humbles Tourist During Push-Up Contest At Walt Disney World

No one fights like Gaston, douses lights like Gaston, and apparently no one goes viral like Gaston.

Shortly after a little girl became an Internet sensation by giving the "Beauty and the Beast" villain a piece of her mind at Walt Disney World, Gaston is generating views on YouTube again. This time, a guest at the Florida theme park challenges Gaston to a push-up contest.

And let's just say the Disney character is very much in character.

"If you've ever wondered what would happen if you challenged Gaston to a push-up contest," wrote Blake Platt in the description.

"We were just having fun and I thought a person or two might get a chuckle out of it," Platt added after the video went viral. "When my brother and I go to the Disney parks (which we love), one of our goals every time we enter is to make someone's day, even if it's just one person."

Man With Knife In Skull For Hours 'Wasn't Aware Of It'

When a Brazilian taxi driver got into a bar brawl, he didn't know when the fight actually came to a head -- his head.

Juacelo Nunes de Oliveira, 39, was stabbed during an argument, and it took more than three hours before he realized there was a blade running through his skull to his jaw bone, CNN reports.

Oliveira was at a party in Agua Branca last Sunday when he was stabbed four times; three times in the torso -- one of which perforated a lung -- and once in the head. He was driven to a nearby hospital and transferred to an emergency facility in Teresina, 62 miles away.

"He had the knife lodged in his head for this whole period but he was not aware of it," Dr. Gilberto Albuquerque told CNN. "We believe the shock and a bit of the drinking may have helped him not to understand the knife was still in his head."

X-ray photos released by the military to CNN and Globo show the knife protruding from behind his left eye. Albuquerque said the knife stopped only when it struck the victim's lower jaw.

Doctors told 9News that Oliveira is lucky to be alive.

The surgery took two and a half hours, and Oliveira reportedly walked out of the hospital five days later.

"The knife crossed his head just behind the optical nerve, got very close to the olfactory nerve and (was) just a fraction from the gustatory nerve," Albuquerque told 9News. "He could have been blinded and could have lost his senses of smell and taste, but none of that happened and he is alive and healthy."

Oliveira's attackers are still at large.

Fisherman Says He Saw Bigfoot Bathing ... And He Sent Us A Picture!

tampaskunkape

One occupational hazard of reporting on unexplained phenomena: You can always count on waking up in the morning to find an email from someone swearing that they've just seen Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, a hybrid human alien or a UFO on the moon.

2015 began with a photo from John Rodriguez, a 66-year-old retired electrician, who claims that he was fishing Dec. 26 on the Hillsborough River near northeast Tampa, Florida, and came upon an incredible sight.

"I fish for gar in the river and I bring my camera to take pictures of the birds and what not. I heard a squishing sound, looked over and saw this thing walking through the water and crouch down in the duck weed. It did not look like a guy in a suit -- it was definitely an animal. I took this picture and got out of there as fast as I could."

Here's the image that Rodriguez sent to HuffPost:

Rodriguez claims to have seen and photographed -- in a completely clear and non-blurry moment -- that tall, hairy, elusive creature often reported in North America and other parts of the world that goes by many names: Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti. In Florida, it's known as the Swamp Ape or Skunk Ape (primarily from descriptions of an extremely pungent odor it supposedly gives off).

"I've heard of Skunk Ape prints around Green Swamp [in Florida], but never anything like this," Rodriguez told HuffPost in an email. "My whole life, never seen anything like it."

Of course, the fact that the photo looks a little too crisp at some points, made us suspect it to be a fraud. Just look at the jagged line between the hairy beast and the water. That could be the work of a novice who just downloaded Photoshop for the first time.

However, we've got some time to kill. And doesn't this man deserve to be taken at his word? After all, wouldn't finding Bigfoot be a great way to kick off 2015?

Rodriguez said he snapped the picture in the early afternoon at an area where the Hillsborough River becomes a cypress swamp. The map below shows a small section of the 59-mile-long river that flows through Florida, filled with wildlife preserves that include many not-so-friendly creatures, such as alligators, known to jump into canoes and attack unsuspecting humans.

So, what are we to make of this fantastic tale? Did Rodriguez take the clearest, most definitive picture to date of Bigfoot?

Not so fast, according to Ben Hansen, lead investigator of the Syfy Channel's "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files" series.

"It's a relief to finally have a clear picture of the creature," Hansen, a former FBI agent, told HuffPost. "Every other photo and video we get is usually too blurry or the Bigfoot too obscured in brush to allow for any useful identification. Thanks to the clear photo, I'm excited to announce that the photographer has captured a real-life... gorilla in a Bigfoot suit!"

"To be more precise, the face of a gorilla that has been digitally added to the photo with editing software. Although I originally suspected the creature suit was actually in the water when the photo was taken, I started to notice shadows in front of the Bigfoot that appeared to be an inconsistent length and shape with the rest of the photo."

"Additionally, there appears to be some heavy digital editing touch-up to the fur around the face and where the body meets the water. I'm now leaning more toward believing the whole creature was pasted into the image and then branches and twigs were added in the foreground. The branches also could have really been in the scene, but they were later edited as separate layers so Bigfoot looks like he's now behind them, sitting in deep contemplation."

Digital photographs use a format called EXIF data, which stores a lot of accessible information within each image -- like shutter speed, if a flash was used, date and time of the image, etc. Hansen pointed out that the EXIF information of the Florida swamp creature picture suggests the image was digitally created on Dec. 26 with Photoshop.

Since those details are extremely important when trying to research unexplained phenomena images, we asked Rodriguez about this.

"I did not Photoshop this at all. Believe me or not," Rodriguez said. "When I plug in my memory card, it asks to import and opens in Photoshop. I just changed the name and saved. It seems like people get publicly crucified for coming forward with this kind of stuff."

Rodriguez also said this debunking attitude is what caused him to initially hesitate sending the original picture to HuffPost.

A March 2014 smithsonian.com story about the search for Florida's Skunk Ape pointed out the following:

The belief in mythological animals might be as old as humanity itself. Nearly every culture's folklore contains at least one imagined creature in its folklore that has no place in modern science.

It's easy to imagine how, in the days when much of the planet had yet to be explored and catalogued, you might have reasonably believed in the existence of any of these beasts. But in the present day, when every square mile of the earth's surface has been photographed by satellites, and scientists have identified 1.3 million species (with mostly plants, tiny animals and microbes remaining to be found), how could you still believe in a lumbering, seven-foot-tall ape, hiding out in one of the most well-studied countries on the planet?

When dealing with reports and discussions about things like Bigfoot, UFOs, lake monsters, ghosts, etc., there's always a fine line walked by those who make the claims and the skeptics or outright debunkers who do their best to make the stories go away.

In the most literal sense, that's the nature of the beast -- especially where large, hairy creatures are involved.

Hansen brings up another item about this current alleged Skunk Ape sighting near Tampa.

"The white stripe down the middle of the head and chin is a nice touch. If it's a Skunk Ape, why not make it look like a skunk, right? In reality, I have yet to come across a story with any merit where witnesses describe the Skunk Ape with an actual white stripe like a skunk."

Par for the course, these stories produce strong opposing points of view. And still, one clear photograph of something that may or may not be a real Bigfoot is not definitive proof that the creature exists, the way DNA evidence -- or an actual body -- would be.

We still, apparently, don't have either of those things yet.

Penny The Miracle Dog 'Safe And Sound' After 2,400-Mile Adventure

Penny for your thoughts, Penny?

Penny is a dog. Penny went missing. Penny managed to travel 2,400 miles in the process. Bad girl.

But now Penny's owners say Penny's doing great, thanks for asking. We love you, Penny!

The adorable Vizla was picked up by a trucker while roaming in her hometown in Royal City, Washington state on Dec. 19. Luckily, Penny was wearing a microchip, or her family would never have known that she'd gone to Pittsburgh.

Her family set up a Facebook page called, "Bring Penny home for Christmas," and while helping hands couldn't make the deadline, she was reunited with her owners on Friday. American Airlines reportedly funded her trip home.

"I'm sure if she could talk, she'd have quite a few adventures to talk about," Kendra Brown, Penny's owner, told the Associated Press.

Man With 2 Penises Tells All In New Memoir

In early 2014, a man who said he has two functioning penises due to a rare congenital condition known as diphallia "came out" in a Reddit "Ask Me Anything." A year later, he's written an e-memoir.

This man, who identifies as bisexual and goes by Diphallic Dude or DoubleDickDude (DDD), is using his memoir, titled Double Header: My Life With Two Penises, to answer more questions, describe his struggles and tell tales of many sexual encounters.

"I realized that there are still people who are genuinely curious," he told Rolling Stone. "From girls who want to know how to handle their boyfriend being uncircumcised [as DDD is] to guys wanting to know if they're gay or bisexual because my equipment turned them on."

"Really, it just stuns me almost a year later that people are still reaching out to me," he said. "So I thought I should put a book together and use that to answer questions, but also give voice to people who might feel lost in the cracks."

Last year, DDD provided Redditors with everything from very graphic images to the details of having sex with two penises. He now has popular, very NSFW Twitter and Tumblr accounts.

"I still have the same life and still do the same things," DDD said of his Internet fame. "I'm just now more aware that the guy or girl standing next to me at the grocery store might have seen my penises. That is the big difference.”

For more on DDD's memoir, read Rolling Stone's interview.
