High School Golf Team Lends A Helping Hand In Apartment Fire Rescue

A quick-thinking Minnesota coach and his high school golf team helped to save the day last week when they spotted an apartment complex on fire and came to the rescue.

The team was practicing about 50 yards away from the seven-building complex in Underwood when someone spotted the fire. Coach Chuck Ross told a student to call 911, according to the Fergus Falls Journal.

Members of the team sprang into action, breaking down a door and smashing several windows. They also helped carry a woman recovering from leg surgery who couldn't walk out.

“She was really upset,” senior golfer Chad Peterson told the paper. “We kept her calm. Told her that it was going to be alright.”

Following the incident, Underwood High School held an assembly to honor Ross and his team.

"I just hope that I did what most people would do," the coach told Valley News Live. "I didn’t really look at it as anything extraordinary.”
