WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) -- The director of the organization that runs a Pennsylvania university's bookstore is apologizing for selling a 6-inch inflatable doll called the "perfect female specimen."
The Delaware County Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1OLGaDF ) reports Friday that an apology letter was emailed to West Chester University students and faculty on Monday. In it, Donna Snyder, director of Student Services Inc., writes that she was "very surprised and personally appalled" by the doll.
The $8 doll was being sold as a gag gift. The packaging showed a woman clad in underwear and tells purchasers to punch the self-inflating doll to blow it up.
About 40 students recently protested it, saying it objectifies women and promotes violence. The store then pulled it from the shelves. A male equivalent had already sold out.
