Bacon Jerky, nice to meat you.
Beef jerky is the most popular snack on the market right now, so it just makes sense that a bacon version exists. The new(ish) product is straight from Slim Jim, and there are currently two Bacon Jerky flavors available: Maple and hickory smoked. Though the product launched last year, a spokesperson for the brand told The Huffington Post that it was a "super limited distribution, so it's just becoming widely available now."
For anyone expecting a true jerky taste or texture, you're not going to get it. And for anyone expecting the texture of crispy bacon, you're not going to get that, either. This is essentially just already cooked bacon in a bag, ready for any and every snacking whim -- and it's bacon that's on the chewy, rubbery side. It's the sort of thing you'd pull out if you were too hungover to actually prepare bacon on the weekend, but still wanted something to go with your eggs and pancakes.
Slim Jim has a few ideas for how you should use the stuff, saying you can add it to a Bloody Mary, ice cream sundae, cheese fries, trail mix, baked potato, jalapeƱo margarita and more.
If you're interested in trying some of the stuff yourself, head to a Menards, Sheetz, Wawa, Circle K or Speedway to get your fix. Bags retail for $5.59-$5.70, which is a bit high considering the small amount of bacon actually in the packets.
If bacon jerky isn't your thing, don't worry. We've just taste-tested jerky, so you're sure to find something you like, from caffeinated beef jerky to weed beef jerky.
