No, A 'Sexy Ebola Containment Suit' Halloween Costume Is NOT OK

Don't attempt to work any sort of Ebola theme into your Halloween plans. Seriously. Don't.

The deadly Ebola virus has claimed nearly 5,000 lives in West Africa and infected more than 10,000 people, but some are using the outbreak for Halloween parody.

BrandsOnSale.com is selling a "Sexy Ebola Containment Suit" costume, including a face mask and knee-high socks, for "fashionistas [who] seek global solutions to hazmat couture."

The men's version of the outfit isn't dubbed "sexy," but its description is no less distasteful, reading: "The deadly Ebola virus has landed in the United States and the crisis has reached new levels of domestic escalation. You are sure to be prepared if any outbreak happens at your Halloween party. This will literally be the most 'viral' costume of the year."

A spokesperson for the company could not be reached for further comment, but BrandsOnSale took to Twitter to promote the costume.

Johnathan Weeks, CEO of the company, defended the costume while speaking with The Atlantic.

"You can go on any website for a zombie mask for an eight-year-old with cuts and scars all over their face," he said. "It's Halloween, it's one day, if people are that serious about it, they don’t know what Halloween is about."

Going with the Ebola theme, a promotion company called Momxdad planned a "Saturday Night Ebola Fever" Halloween party at London's Scotch of St. James, with donations going to Doctors Without Borders to help victims of Ebola, the Telegraph first reported. A spokesman for Momxdad told the Telegraph the party's title is just a "play on words" and not a trivialization of the deadly virus ravaging communities in West Africa.

After a flood of criticism, Momxdad ultimately changed the name of the party to "reflect any sensitivities surrounding the event." Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/27/sexy-ebola-containment-suit-halloween_n_6054068.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news&ir=Weird+News
