Determined Cat Goes Through A Lot To Wrestle With Stuffed Tiger

This cat earned its stripes.

The tiger plush toy is pretty big, but that doesn't stop our intrepid kitty from "borrowing" it from a neighbor. According to the YouTube description, it leaped through the gate on the second try.

Then the cat hauled the stuffed animal quite a ways.

As you can see in the full video above, it was well worth the effort.

Extra Annoyed By Chewing Sounds? You May Be A Creative Genius

If the sound of someone chewing or slurping makes you want to crawl inside a hole, you may have a diagnosable condition called misophonia, or a heightened sensitivity to certain noises.

While joining the unlucky 20 percent of people who have this condition may be irksome, there's some good news associated with the disorder. Researchers from Northwestern University found that those who are hypersensitive to particular sounds tend to be more creative than those who are not. The study showed that the more affected people were by sounds, the higher the likelihood they'd score well on tests gauging creativity.

The next time you're seated next to a chicken noodle slurper, take a deep breath and give yourself a loving pat on the back. Creative geniuses don't have it easy, but they can persevere through annoying mouth sounds. Learn some tips for powering through in the video above.

Internet Helps Rescue Dog In Plastic Bag Thrown Into Ditch

A social media plea from a compassionate woman may have saved an abandoned dog's life.

Marcia Lutz of Marechal Cândido Rondon in Brazil, spotted a dog inside a plastic bag and trapped a ditch, earlier this month. Lutz quickly posted on a Brazilian animal rescue organization's Facebook page, asking for help in bringing the dog to safety.

"He was thrown into a ditch inside a plastic bag. It's a difficult place to access," she wrote. "I wasn't able to save his life. Can anyone help?"

The kind people of the Internet heard Lutz's cry, and that same day, employees at a local health facility Spring Garden Health Center climbed into the ditch and saved the pup, according to Cláucia Jackline de Oliveira, one of the people involved in the rescue.

Lutz said on Facebook that while there is often trash in the the area in which the dog was found, uncovering a dog there was shocking.

"In this spot, it's common for people to throw out garbage, dead animals and dogs," she wrote in a comment. "But [throwing out a dog] inside a bag, left to die is beyond."

According to a comment from Jackline de Oliveira, the plastic bag that the dog was found in was filled with feces and urine by the time the pup was rescued, but the animal appeared to be otherwise unharmed.

Happily, the dog was reportedly adopted shortly after she was brought to the health center.

Naked Rollercoaster Riders Bare Charitable Streak (NSFW)

You probably won't see this at Disney World: A group of people rode naked on a rollercoaster in England Sunday to try to break a record.

They fell short, but still attracted plenty of attention and raised more than $15,000 for charity, the BBC reported.

Fifty-seven uninhibited amusement-park patrons hopped aboard Adventure Island's Green Scream ride in Southend-on-Sea. While their flesh was willing, participation was relatively weak. The existing Guinness World Record dates back to 2010 when 102 people rode the same ride, the Mirror noted.

The Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation's Keyhole Cancer Appeal was still a winner nonetheless.

"It takes a lot of nerve to take off all your clothes in front of complete strangers, plus the world's media, so we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was brave enough to bare all and raise such a huge amount of cash for our vitally important cause," the charity's Lucy Thomas-Clayton told the BBC.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, naked riders traveled from all over the United Kingdom to take part. Nice going, everyone.

Avoid Overdone Halloween Costumes With Google's Frightgeist Map

You may think you designed a truly groovy Halloween costume, but nothing's worse than showing up to find everyone else had the exact same idea.

Google's new Frightgeist map prevents this horror by tracking costume trends around the country. It'll tell you the most popular costume in your city -- or at least a city near you -- based on Google searches. That way, you can avoid being the same boring thing as everyone else.

The top trending costumes in L.A. and San Francisco, for example, are Star Wars. And in Seattle, the most popular costume is Harley Quinn. In NYC, most people are searching for superhero costumes. And in St. Joseph, Missouri, they want to be... sharks?!

Find your city's most overdone costume on Google's interactive map.

Rare Eel Found In Kansas River For The First Time In 10 Years

A Kansas angler reeled in something that hadn't been seen in the area in about a decade: an American eel.

The 30-inch long eel was caught in the Kansas River in Lawrence on Sept. 11 by Tim Smith, who used a worm for bait.

Since the eels spawn in the Atlantic, this one must've traveled quite a distance to reach Kansas.

"It would have migrated from the Atlantic through the Gulf, up the Mississippi," Ron Kaufman, a spokesman for the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, told the Lawrence Journal-World. "It would have taken a turn at Saint Louis to get to the Missouri River and another left to get into the Kansas River."

He said there could be others in the area -- but don't expect to see them very often.

The Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism says the eels are generally nocturnal, hiding under logs during the day and feeding on invertebrates and soft-bodied fish. The agency said that while the eels were not uncommon in the area a century ago, dams along the rivers have blocked migration and made them much less common.

There has been a push to list the American eel as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. However, earlier this month, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said the population is stable and the species does not need protection.

"While American eels still face local mortality from harvest and hydroelectric facilities, this is not threatening the overall species," the agency said, according to Tech Times.
