The Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows Invents New Words For Powerful Emotions

The journey that a made-up word takes from invention to induction into a dictionary -- be it Oxford Online or Merriam Webster's even more selective print edition -- is arduous.

For the latter, decades worth of frequent use is needed, except in the rare instances that a language trend spreads quickly, but doesn't die out. This is why selfie has made its way into the long-lasting print editions, but twerk, a blip on our linguistic radar, hasn't passed the more ephemeral online book.

The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows -- a blog that evangelizes new words by constructing faux entries and accompanying videos -- has collected a few contenders. In its first video, creator John Koenig narrates, "There's no word in the English language for the desire to disappear, or the eerie tension of a looming thunderstorm [...] or the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own."

It's true that each language has its shortcomings. In English, for example, there's no single word that describes the light that flits between tree leaves when you pass them by; the Japanese equivalent is komorebi. Nor is there a word for an act we partake in often -- continuing to eat once we're already full. In Georgia, the word for that is shemomedjamo.

In an attempt to bridge the gap between language and the way we connect with one another -- especially emotionally -- Koenig proposes that we add the following words, plus many more, to our lexicon:

liberosis

n. the desire to care less about things -- to loosen your grip on your life, to stop glancing behind you every few steps, afraid that someone will snatch it from you before you reach the end zone -- rather to hold your life loosely and playfully, like a volleyball, keeping it in the air, with only quick fleeting interventions, bouncing freely in the hands of trusted friends, always in play.

nighthawk

n. a recurring thought that only seems to strike you late at night -- an overdue task, a nagging guilt, a looming and shapeless future -- that circles high overhead during the day, that pecks at the back of your mind while you try to sleep, that you can successfully ignore for weeks, only to feel its presence hovering outside the window, waiting for you to finish your coffee, passing the time by quietly building a nest.

midsummer

n. a feast celebrated on the day of your 26th birthday, which marks the point at which your youth finally expires as a valid excuse -- when you must begin harvesting your crops, even if they’ve barely taken root -- and the point at which the days will begin to feel shorter as they pass, until even the pollen in the air reminds you of the coming snow.

School Doesn't Let 4-Year-Old Eat Oreos From Own Lunchbox

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A suburban Denver 4-year-old came home from school disappointed, with untouched Oreos and a note from her teacher.

Denver news station KMGH-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1P6770A ) that preschooler Natalee Pearson told her mom Friday that she wasn't allowed to eat the cookies in her lunchbox.

The note told parents to pack a nutritious lunch that includes a fruit, vegetable and healthy snack.

Natalee's mother, Leeza Pearson, says she doesn't agree with the decision by the Children's Academy in Aurora.

She says Natalie also had a sandwich and cheese and that the school took things too far.

A spokeswoman with Aurora Public Schools says they gave Natalee a healthy alternative to the cookies.

Pearson says Natalee attends the private Children's Academy as a public school student under the state's preschool option program.

Meet The Art Collective Making Carpets From Skewers, Sponges, Pasta And Party Hats

carp

When we think of carpets, images of bland loop pole rugs float to mind, tickling the toes but leaving the eyes and imagination rather unstimulated. We Make Carpets does not make those kinds of carpets. Instead of working in broadloom, wool or triexta, We Make Carpets works in more unorthodox materials, like crayons, or bricks, or straws, or even pasta. Yup, they may not feel so good under the feet -- in fact, don't touch them at all -- but, boy, are they easy on the eyes.

Amsterdam-based trio Bob, Marcia and Stijn made their first carpet in 2009, while collaborating on an "Instant Nature" exhibition for Dutch Design Week. They collected pine cones and needles, which resulted in what they dubbed "Forest Carpet." From there, We Make Carpets was born. "There never was a preconceived plan, like 'from now on the three of us will make carpets,'" the artists explain on their website. "It just happened. At the same time we had the feeling it might lead somewhere."

slifdw

The craft-savvy trio has been in the business of unconventional floor coverings ever since. From far away, their dizzying tapestries resemble the geometric designs you'd encounter on a classic Turkish carpet. However, a closer look reveals the recycled and oft overlooked materials that make up the unlikely art objects. "The three of us always had an interest in the everyday things surrounding us," We Make Carpets told The Huffington Post. "They are produced in such huge quantities that nobody seems to notice them anymore. By making something new out of them, and using them in huge quantities, we try to renew their aesthetic value, and at the same time say something about the time it takes to build them and the fragility of the installations lying loose on the ground."

The artists have worked with media including skewers, confetti, party hats, sponges and umbrellas. "The materials have to be available in big quantities, so they have to be mass produced, that is one of the only criteria," the artists said. "Of course we also look at the shape and the color of the materials. In the end, everything has to come together: the material, the size of the work and the space we build it in."

Some carpets are as large as twenty by thirty meters, but the artists say the smaller carpets are the most physically taxing. "It puts your whole body under strain," Marcia explained.

The site-specific artworks are made on the spot, allowing the shapes and colors of the mundane materials to guide the symmetrical geometric patterns that soon emerge. Although the final products resemble rugs, the raw materials are often arranged on the ground, untethered, such that a single graze of the hand could disturb the entire fragile display.

"What will happen with the installations if it is touched? What will happen after the exhibition is over? It's nice that every everyday things can raise these kinds of questions."

Make This Bourbon Waffle Cake With Candied Bacon Because You're A Breakfast Hero

maple bourbon canva

The line between breakfast and dessert is a thin one. This Bourbon Waffle Cake crosses that line unapologetically. It is a breakfast-dessert hybrid and it is proud to be so.

As you can see, this waffle is no ordinary waffle. Bourbon whipped cream is sandwiched between three waffle-cakes, which boast cinnamon, sugar and even more bourbon. It's all topped off with maple syrup and candied bacon praline.

Clearly, this culinary masterpiece combines breakfast and dessert's best qualities in one (recall: bacon, waffles, whipped cream). Become the breakfast hero you've always dreamed of being, and make this as soon as possible. Get the full recipe from F and B Department here.

Guy Pours Molten Aluminum Into Watermelon, Unintentionally Makes Art

If you poured molten aluminum into a watermelon, what would happen?

You’d create art, apparently.

That’s what transpired when YouTube’s “The Backyard Scientist” attempted the unlikely experiment.

In the video above, watch as the Scientist heats up some aluminum, before pouring it into the hollowed-out fruit.

molten-aluminum-watermelon

He said he expected the watermelon to explode, but something surprising occurred.

molten-aluminum-watermelon

“What happened is the aluminum found little channels throughout the watermelon that connected the seed chambers to each other, and this caused this awesome casting to happen,” the YouTuber said in the clip, adding that the result was “totally unintentional.”

The watermelon experiment is reminiscent of a 2013 viral video which showed an artist creating intricate castings by pouring molten aluminum into fire ant hills.

Needless to say, we don’t recommend trying either of these red-hot experiments at home.

'Reflections From Uyuni' Captures One Of The World's Strangest Landscapes

Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni, or the Uyuni salt flat, is one of the most surreal and beautiful landscapes on the planet. It's so remote that only the most diehard travelers will ever get a chance to see it.

The video above might be the next best thing.

"Reflections From Uyuni" is a stunning time-lapse video from filmmaker Enrique Pacheco, which captures the salt flat and some of the surrounding landscapes.

As the video's title implies, the focus is on reflections. The thin layer of water that sits over the salt after a rain storm creates what some have called the "world's largest mirror."

However, shooting those reflections wasn't as easy as Pacheco had hoped.

"Not all of the salt flats have water, you had to look for it," Pacheco told Fstoppers, which has a behind-the-scenes look at how the video was made. "And sometimes it was very windy, which made it impossible."

Covering 4,633 square miles, Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat. Lonely Planet says it sits at 11,985 feet above sea level and is the remains of the prehistoric salt lake, Lago Minchín.

"The savage beauty of this vast salt desert makes it one of South America's most awe-inspiring spectacles," the website says.

The Colleges That Order The Most Food During Finals, According To GrubHub

The concept of "acceptable" meals is a little shaky in college. Students eat whatever's in the cafeteria and use limited space, time and resources to attempt cooking. During finals, college students get even more shameless, ordering absurd amounts of delivery for both efficiency and comfort.

The online food ordering service GrubHub went through their data to find which schools order the most during finals as compared to the rest of the year. They found that, overall, food deliveries to libraries are 154 percent more likely during final exams than the rest of the year. The schools included in this list are the ones that had enough orders to be statistically analyzed, a GrubHub spokesperson said.

Virginia Tech came out with the biggest spike in finals deliveries -- a 46 percent increase as compared to the rest of the term. The University of Virginia came in at No. 8 with a 25 percent order spike.

The data shows that colleges in New York state are especially keen on finals food deliveries. Three schools in the top 10 are in New York -- Ithaca College, Cornell University and Syracuse University. Pennsylvania schools also make a good showing, with the University of Pittsburgh and University of Pennsylvania coming in at Nos. 7 and 10, respectively.

Here are the official rankings from GrubHub:

Watch This Man Build The Biggest McDonald's Burger In The History Of McD's

Moshe Tamssot wanted to see if he could push McDonald's new build-your-own-burger kiosk to the limit. The kiosk concept, called "Create Your Taste," is designed to give consumers an incredible amount of choice when they order a burger or chicken sandwich to their own specifications.

Apparently, the kiosk doesn't really have a limit, as Tamssot was able to order the biggest McDonald's monstrosity we've ever seen. Behold, Tamssot's "Big Max" burger, which reportedly weighed in at an incredible 3.8 pounds:

burgers

Tamssot created the Big Max by ordering 10 each of every kind of cheese, bacon, sauce, lettuce and tomatoes one can get on a McDonald's hamburger (sadly, the machine will only let users order two patties per burger). Originally, the burger cost an astounding $890.80, but Tamssot says he found a pricing bug in the system that lowered the burger to $24.89.

According to Tamssot's Reddit AMA, he didn't think his order would make it through:

...The Manager initially refused to make the burger as ordered. Due to the pricing glitch, and then because he thought it wouldn't be a good burger. That defeated the marketing promise of 'CREATE the burger of your dreams' -- which is what I eventually did with the Big Max.

When Tamssot did create the "burger of his dreams," even McDonald's tweeted about the accomplishment:

Tamssot used a "Create Your Taste" machine in Chicago, where he lives, but the concept is being tested in over 2,000 locations in California, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Missouri and Pennsylvania. It can also be found in parts of Australia. Until McDonald's reveals the rest of the kiosk locations, the rest of us will just have to sit and wait until we can build the burger of our dreams.

The Huffington Post reached out to McDonald's for comment and will update this post accordingly upon hearing back.

Uber Driver Entertains Passenger With An Impromptu Opera Performance

In this car, Pavarotti would play second fiddle to the driver.

Jeff Sullivan captured this video of his Uber driver beautifully belting out some opera and uploaded it to YouTube.

"He was playing [opera] on his radio and I told him how much I appreciated it," Sullivan told The Huffington Post in an email. Sullivan was on his way to a bar in South Boston, and started chatting with his driver.

"He asked me if I could sing -- I can’t, but entertained him with a few weak Andrea Bocelli lyrics," Sullivan said.

"He mentioned that he was a student, but I’m not sure if he meant it in the literal sense or that he just enjoys music," he added. "I then told him that 'the floor is yours' and he started [singing]… at first I thought he was kidding, then he started to impress more and more, so I pulled out my camera ... no one would believe me when I told them I was just in an Uber with Pavoratti’s muse."

"Wow, that's brilliant," Sullivan can be heard saying at the end of the song. He then gets back to offering the driver directions.

"Who needs a radio when you have an awesome uber driver!" Sullivan asked rhetorically in the video description.

Sullivan is currently trying to track down the driver, he told HuffPost. Uber users can see a history of their trips, but the list does not include drivers' names or contact information.

British Man Banned From Using Coin-Operated Machines

Life is about to change for a British man banned from using any coin-operated machine for the next five years.

Russell Stansfield, 38, has a long history of thefts, the most recent happened earlier this year when he was caught stealing money from a parking meter near a hospital in Oldham, UK, the Daily Mail reports.

In order to stop Stansfield, a judge issued a Criminal Behavioral Order (CBO) this week that bans him from touching or using any coin-operated machines in the country. It is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

The CBO allows certain exceptions: He can buy a subway ticket, but has to immediately move away from the machine. Also, he can use a pay phone, but only in emergency situations.

“It’s just weird if I’m honest, there are so many things I can’t do. If I’m at the hospital for hours for example I can’t buy any food from the machines,” he said, according to the Manchester Evening News. “At least I have an excuse not to pay for things."

Stansfield is currently unemployed and told the Evening News he is sorry for his previous crimes.

"It was a means of survival. I was desperate and going through a tough time,” he told the Oldham Chronicle.

Greek Man Convicted Of Stealing Electricity Despite Being Dead

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — A Greek court has convicted a dead man of stealing electricity from a power utility, giving him a six-month suspended jail sentence.

Defense lawyer Christos Bakelas told the Thessaloniki court that his client was deceased, and asked to have the trial deferred until he could deliver a death certificate. But the court refused, and on Tuesday convicted his client in absentia.

Thessaloniki police records show the 46-year-old unemployed father of three died on April 8, but Bakelas wasn't informed until the eve of the trial.

The man was charged last year after activists reconnected his power supply that had been cut by the electricity company for unpaid bills.

Bakelas said he was astonished by the court's decision and hadn't experienced anything like it in his 25 years as a lawyer.

Alain Ducasse, Michelin Starred Chef, Cooks Food For Astronauts To Eat In Space

French chef Alain Ducasse knows a lot about stars. He's become famous around the world for opening restaurants from Monaco to Hong Kong that have been showered with three-star ratings by the Michelin Red Guide. But Ducasse has also been serving food to a group of people who know a lot more about stars than he even does: astronauts.

For the past couple of years, Ducasse and his team of chefs have been creating gourmet meals for consumption on the International Space Station. The dishes they make for NASA are a far cry from the chalky freeze-dried ice cream that most people associate with space food: served only on special occasions, they feature ingredients, like squab, celery root and Breton lobster, that wouldn't be out of place in any of Ducasse's earthbound restaurants.

In an interview this week with The Telegraph, Ducasse described the space food as more of an experiment than a profit center. He's long been interested in the problem of what people will eat in space; he started developing recipes for future Mars missions back in 2005.

"We don’t make any money out of it, but it’s very important to know if we can do it," Ducasse said.

As you'd expect, the process involved in getting Ducasse's food to space is a lot more complicated than sending it out to a table at one of his restaurants. All the food has to be carefully developed to be sterile and nutritious enough to be appropriate for astronauts, certified by each participating country's space exploration program, and packed in both vacuum-sealed pouches and special tins that keep it tasty and safe to eat until a special occasion calls for it. And all that's before the food is even sent the 250-or-so miles above the earth's surface to the International Space Station -- a very difficult journey indeed.

The Baltimore Orioles played the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday at Orioles Park at Camden Yards in front of zero fans -- save for a few Orioles employees inside, and fans who found themselves some views outside the stadium.

The decision to close the game to fans -- a result of safety concerns related to the Freddie Gray protests -- made for an odd and oddly quiet affair, as all the murmurs and singing of a typical baseball game were replaced by thwacks and spit.

Short-Sighted Criminal Arrested For Stealing Elton John's Heart-Shaped Glasses

A man accused of stealing Sir Elton John's heart-shaped glasses has been arrested, Memphis police say.

Police say 26-year-old Matthew Colvin swiped the famous rocker's prescription eyeglasses from the Rock 'n Soul Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 21. The white glasses, valued at $2,031, were kept in a display case at the museum.

John Doyle, executive director of the Rock 'n' Soul Museum, told Fox Memphis the glasses were returned undamaged and will be back on display Wednesday.

Even if Elton John still used the glasses -- which now belong to Hard Rock Cafe International -- he likely wouldn’t have missed them much. The rock 'n' roll legend is rumored to own as many as 250,000 different pairs of glasses, most of which are no longer needed, as he's had surgery to correct his vision.

Cat Lovers: The Event We've Been Dreaming Of Is Happening

For two glorious days in June, cat lovers' every fancy will be fulfilled.

CatConLA -- delightfully billed as Comic-Con for cat people, and taking place June 6-7 in Los Angeles -- will naturally feature lots and lots of cat merch, like cat-related jewelry, art, furniture, clothes, bedsheets, a cat-shaped urn for beloved cats who are chasing that great ball of yarn in the sky and more -- so, so much more.

cat in hat
Yep, cat wizard hats will be available at CatConLA. Your cat may use his or her three wishes to wish you'd never attended. Photo: I Heart Needlework via CatConLA

There will be a massive cat adoption village. Francesco Marciuliano, a poet who specializes in kitten confessionals, will give a reading, while famous cats like Lil Bub are themselves scheduled to "speak" -- and no, we don't know what that means exactly, but we are super excited to find out!

A team of manicurists will be on hand to festoon your claws.

And even going to the loo will be fun in a kittenish sort of way. The company Purpose Cat Litter is taking over the bathrooms, although the details of that arrangement are still, as of this writing, a fascinating mystery.

"What they have in mind is top-secret, but I’m definitely intrigued," said CatConLA organizer Susan Michaels.

Michaels isn't new to cat-related gatherings. Last year, she curated a very cool exhibit of cat-related art, also in Los Angeles.

This upcoming event is, in part, another opportunity to elevate the image of cat lovers.

"When you say you’re into cats, people think ‘crazy cat lady,’" said Michaels.

OK, well, sure, it would be great if the outside world could see our love of cats -- and our love for cat-printed bedsheets, and kitten poems, and whatever is going on with those cat-litter bathrooms -- as nothing more than a charming quirk.

But really, all we're looking for -- all we've ever been looking for -- is a magical time and place where we cat people can enthuse unabashedly about felines, together. And we think this might be it.

"More than anything, CatConLA is a celebration of our feline friends -- how they enhance our lives and make us happy in so many ways," said Michaels. "Everyone is here for one sole reason. Cats!"

How excited are we? PetSmart Charities is an official sponsor of CatConLA! They're going to be spreading their kitty wisdom, adoption tips, and talking about us cat ladies being oh so chic.

Old Hand Found In Florida Attic With Coins And Treasure Map

If you've ever cleaned out a grandparent's attic, you know that you might find some weird things up there. One Florida family recently discovered that this can include a hand.

Mike Lopez told NBC affiliate WFLA that his sister was cleaning out their grandparents' attic when she found a wooden box with a wedding photo of their great-grandparents, a Tampa-area map, some coins and what appears to be a human hand all arranged inside.

hand attic found

The map bears the word "Gaspar," and Lopez told WFLA he thinks it may be connected to the legend of a late-18th and early-19th century Florida pirate José Gaspar, who was also known as "Gasparilla." There is even an annual festival in his honor.

Despite Gaspar's place in Tampa-area culture and folklore, there is no proof he was real, and the myth may have originated with a railroad company advertisement in the late 1800s, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

"Well, that certainly is a hand," Tampa Bay History Center Curator Rodney Kite-Powell says in footage from the news station. Kite-Powell said the treasure map is likely a blueprint from the 1920s or 1930s, and the coins look too thin to be authentic Spanish treasure, or even very old.

"I just don't know what to make of it aside from the fact that it's probably not José Gaspar's hand," he said.

While the hand appears to be real, experts who have seen it are still uncertain. "The jury is still out," WFLA reporter Jeff Patterson says in the video above.

George Kirby, World's Oldest Groom At 103, Proves It's Never Too Late To Tie The Knot

Few people have lived the adage "you can't hurry love" quite like George Kirby, Britian's oldest groom-to-be.

Kirby and his 91-year-old fiancee, Doreen Luckie, are finally getting married after nearly three decades of dating, The Telegraph reports.

"We seem to have made every national newspaper. Good job I didn't marry her years ago..." Kirby joked in a recent Facebook post.

The couple is set to break a world record when they finally tie the knot on June 13, Kirby's 103rd birthday, with a combined age of 194.

"I didn’t think that was possible, because you hear so many people living into their hundreds now, and lots of people in their nineties," Luckie told Metro UK, which first reported the story. "I thought 'well, we can’t be the only ones.'"

Kirby, who is active on Facebook, confirmed the record on Saturday:

I'm told that the Guinness Book of Records has officially accepted that Doreen and I will be the oldest couple in the...

Kirby proposed to Luckie this past Valentine's Day after reportedly being pressured by their adult children, HuffPost UK reports. Between them, the couple has seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

"I didn’t get down on one knee because I don’t think I’d have been able to get back up," Kirby told The Telegraph.

Luckie said the couple met in 1988 through an organization that helps seniors meet and socialize. The pair live together -- "in sin" as they say -- in a hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex that's owned by Kirby's son.

On Facebook, Kirby has been sharing his and Luckie's excitement about the international press they've received for their nuptials. The witty Kirby, however, clucked over a recent Daily Mirror headline in which the British tabloid splashed the words: "TO HAVE AND TO OLD."

Oh, good lord, we're on the front page of the Daily Mirror now. First time I've been underneath Amanda Holden....

The marriage will be Kirby's third and Luckie's second.

This DIY 'Harry Potter' Wedding Will Leave You Postively Spellbound

For Vancouver couple Emma and Greg Gavelis, Harry Potter has practically been a third member of their relationship.

They met on dating site Plenty of Fish in 2011 and immediately hit it off when Greg wrote on his profile that his perfect first date would be a "Harry Potter" marathon. Emma, who has two Harry Potter tattoos, was smitten.

Fast-forward to August 14, 2014 when the two Potterheads tied the knot at McMenamins Edgefield hotel in Troutdale, Oregon.

"Harry Potter has played such a big part in us falling in love, that it only seemed fitting to have it be a big part of our wedding and the rest of our love story," Emma told The Huffington Post.

The pair's budget for the big day was $5,000, so the bride tapped into her crafty side and DIYed many aspects of the celebration.

"I spent a lot of time watching 'Game of Thrones' re-runs while assembling everything," Emma wrote in her Offbeat Bride blog post. "And it was totally worth it."

Here are some of the cute and clever ways they incorporated their obsession into the day's festivities:

Emma designed all of the wedding stationery herself in addition to making her bouquet, the boutonnieres, the ring box, some of the table decor, and more.

"I love to make things with my hands," she told HuffPost. "It was definitely a labor of love. Plus, it was nice being able to customize every aspect and make sure it oozed Potter. We also couldn't have afforded this wedding if I hadn't made almost everything myself."

When asked about her favorite wedding day memory, Emma said it was when she and Greg were standing at the altar and he started acting goofy.

"I looked at him, and he started pulling faces -- just like he usually does," she said. "It lightened the mood and made me feel so comfortable, and so sure I was marrying the right man."

Miss Piggy To Receive Feminist Award Because She's An All-Around Boss

Everyone's favorite ham is getting some much-deserved recognition.

Each year, the Sackler Center First Awards honors women who have made groundbreaking contributions to their fields. It was announced this week that Muppets star and feminist porkineer of the stage and screen, Miss Piggy, will be receiving a First Award on June 4 at the Brooklyn Museum.

The confident star said that to be able to receive the award, which has been given to the likes of Toni Morrison, Sandra Day O'Connor and Connie Chung, is an honor.

“Moi is thrilled -- but frankly, not surprised to be receiving this Sackler Center First Award,” Miss Piggy said in a press release. “It is truly wonderful to be celebrated and share this honor with fellow legends, role models and pioneers of female fabulosity. We rock!”

While Miss Piggy may seem like an unlikely recipient of a First Award, activist Elizabeth Sackler, who will present the glamorous actress with the award, says that the diva is exactly what the accolade is all about.

“Miss Piggy deservedly joins this august pantheon of extraordinary women who have previously received the award," Sackler said in a statement. "Miss Piggy embodies exceptional spirit, determination, and grit, when needed, which has taught important lessons about overcoming obstacles to millions of young people, parents, grandparents and virtually everyone who has ever watched this indomitable character on television or in films.”

Indeed, Miss Piggy is a BOSS. You go, girl.

Trooper In Trouble For Snoop Dogg Photo Sues Bosses

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Texas trooper has sued his bosses after he was reprimanded for taking a picture with rapper Snoop Dogg at South by Southwest.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Billy Spears filed the civil lawsuit Wednesday, alleging retaliation by the department, Director Steven McCraw and several executives. The lawsuit says Spears was working off-duty security when an assistant for Snoop Dogg took the photo in March and posted it on Instagram. Spears was reprimanded because the rapper has several drug-possession convictions.

Spears seeks unspecified damages and a jury trial.

The lawsuit also says Spears faced retaliation for his complaint against a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission officer after Spears was detained in 2014 while off-duty and carrying an alcoholic beverage at a concert.

DPS and TABC had no immediate comment Wednesday.

Mom Photoshops Herself Back Into Family Pictures In Hilarious Photo Series

In anticipation of Mother's Day, comedian mom Ahna Tessler embarked on a creative project that she thought would be the perfect gift for herself. Tessler used Photoshop to put herself back in the family pictures that showed her husband and twin children without their mom.

"I was sick of not seeing myself in our family photos and sick of all those selfies I was forced to take of my kids and me," the mom told The Huffington Post, adding, "I was sick of asking my husband to take pictures of me with my kids because unfortunately, he wasn't born with the I'm-gonna-take-pictures-of-my-wife-with-our-kids gene. He's a phenomenal husband and father, he just sucks at this stuff."

Looking through the many photos she'd taken of her husband and kids one day, she was struck with inspiration. "I noticed that there were huge empty spaces that were just screaming for me to be in them. So, I figured out Photoshop ... poorly... and bam! There I was! There was finally proof that I was part of this family, by God!"

Tessler calls her hilarious Photoshop series "... And Mama Too" and hopes it will comfort and inspire other moms who feel left out of their family photos. "I just want other mamas to laugh and say, 'me too! me too! me too!!!!' and of course it would be great if their partners said, 'hmmm... maybe I should pick up that camera and point it towards that woman who bore and gave birth to my kid(s). I bet that would make her feel good and loved and recognized.'"

Though the mom says parenting is "the hardest thing" she's ever done in her life, she has no regrets. "I haven't slept more than 3 hours a night in four years. We've gone on about 5 dates since we've had kids. I take about 12 showers a month. I never see my friends. I don't perform anymore. I speak like a 3-year-old and forget what it's like to speak 'adult.' But man oh man, am I happy I did it!"

"I'm in love my damn kids so much it makes me cry at least once a day. I'm head over heels in love with us. I sincerely cannot be more in love with my family."

And, as her funny Photoshopped pictures show, that love transcends the camera lens.
