Here's Chris Christie Falling Out Of A Chair

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) fell out of a chair once, and unluckily for him, it was caught on video.

Christie took a tumble in June 2014 during an interview with SportsRadio 94WIP. The radio station released a video of the fall on Friday.

You can watch a video of the fall above. And here's a gif, so you can watch it over, and over, and over...

Kendra Sunderland Admits Filming Solo Sex Scene In Oregon State University Library: Cops

Hey, at least she’s using the library.

Kendra Sunderland, 19, is facing a charge of public indecency after allegedly masturbating on film in the library of Oregon State University, the Oregonian reports. If convicted, she could face up to a one-year sentence or a $6,250 fine.

University officials found out about the video on Tuesday. When confronted by investigators, Sunderland allegedly copped to shooting the video last October.

The 31-minute film -- filmed using a webcam on a laptop -- was posted on Pornhub, but has since been taken down from the adult site.

Sunderland is a former student at the university, but has not registered for classes for the current term, according to The Smoking Gun.

“I was surprised someone was in our library doing that,” OSU student Shelby Wilson told KEZI. “I feel like it’s always packed. I don’t know how anyone could get away with it.”

‘Peeping Tom' Rabbi, Barry Freundel, Refuses To Leave Georgetown Synagogue Residence

WASHINGTON (RNS) The Georgetown rabbi charged with videotaping naked women as they used his synagogue’s ritual bath is refusing to leave the rabbi’s residence, according to an email sent from the synagogue to congregants Thursday (Jan. 29).

The board of Kesher Israel, where Barry Freundel was rabbi for 25 years, informed him in late November that his contract was terminated and that he had to leave the synagogue’s rabbinic residence by Jan. 1, the email said.

“Unfortunately, that has not happened,” wrote Elanit Jakabovics, president of Kesher Israel’s board. She also wrote that she hoped the matter could be resolved before it came before a board of rabbis. Kesher Israel formally opened a case on the residency matter in rabbinical court Wednesday.

“We were informed in late December that Rabbi Freundel did not have plans to leave the house,” the email continued. “So, we began informal conversations to resolve this issue with Rabbi Freundel and his attorney, but to no avail.” The rabbi’s residence sits near the synagogue in the city’s Georgetown neighborhood.

Freundel has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment.

Freundel’s October arrest rocked Washington’s Jewish world, where he enjoyed a reputation as a brilliant scholar and an advocate for converts. Kesher Israel is a landmark synagogue attended by Washington luminaries such as Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and former Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn.

Because Freundel’s contract had required that disputes would be resolved at a rabbinical court, or beit din, Kesher Israel brought the matter to the Beit Din of America, Jakabovics wrote. It is the main rabbinical court of the modern Orthodox movement to which Kesher Israel belongs.

The synagogue is asking for compensation for what it deems Freundel’s illegal occupancy and the costs of arbitration. Freundel’s wife, Sharon, moved out weeks ago.

New Stem Cell Advance May Be Big Step Toward Cure For Hair Loss

Hats off to researchers in California. They've taken what appears to be a big step toward the development of a cure for hair loss, a condition that affects 50 million men and 30 million women in the U.S. alone.

The scientists, working at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif., showed that stem cells derived from human skin can be used to grow hair--at least in mice.

"The method is a marked improvement over current methods that rely on transplanting existing hair follicles from one part of the head to another," Dr. Alexey Terskikh, an associate professor at the institute and a member of the team of researchers who demonstrated the experimental technique, said in a written statement. "Our stem cell method provides an unlimited source of cells from the patient for transplantation and isn't limited by the availability of existing hair follicles."

In other words, unlike conventional hair transplantation and other hair restoration treatments now in use, the technique could--at least in theory--grow lots of hair on the heads of men and women who are completely bald.

That would be a very big deal.

"If this approach is proven to work in humans, it will change existing treatments radically," Dr. Nicole Rogers, a dermatologist and hair transplant surgeon in New Orleans, told The Huffington Post in an email.

Dr. Marie Jhin, a dermatologist in San Francisco and an adjunct clinical instructor at Stanford University, echoed that assessment. If the treatment pans out, she told HuffPost Science in an email, it "absolutely would be a breakthrough."

But Rogers said there have been many "fits and starts" over the years as researchers have worked on other promising hair-restoration techniques, adding that the Sanford-Burnham researchers face many challenges--including replicating their results in large-scale human trials.

The technique exploits the ability of human pluripotent stem cells to turn into almost any other cells in the body. Terskikh and his collaborators turned these cells into the dermal papilla cells that regulate the formation and growth of hair follicles, and showed that these grew hair when injected into mice.

Human dermal papilla cells are unsuitable for conventional hair transplants because they cannot be obtained in necessary numbers and they quickly lose their hair-growing potency, according to the statement.

Terskikh wouldn't hazard a guess as to when, if ever, the experimental technique might be available for use in humans. The next step, he said, would be to find a partner to fund future research.

A paper describing the research was published Jan. 21, 2015 in the journal PLOS One.

Heartbreaking Portraits Capture Two Identical Twin Farmers At The End Of Their Lives

Photographer Janos Stekovics met identical twins János and István Lukács in 1985. At the time, they were in their sixties. The two have since passed away, one in 2005 and the other in 2007. However, in the final phase of their lives, Stekovics chronicled the daily lives of these brothers and friends working together on the Hungarian countryside, living in the same house they'd inhabited all of their lives.

fur

Stekovics followed along while the Lukács brothers accomplished their daily tasks. They'd wake up at four in the morning, tend to the animals until noon when they'd eat a lunch of bacon and bread, and continue working until dinner. They slept in a farmhouse built by their parents, with clay walls and kerosine lamps. Sometimes it got so cold the two slept in hay beds in the barn with the horses.

Stekovics developed a deep reverence and fondness for these brothers of another time, often photographed in matching ensembles from jeans and boots to humongous fur coats. Despite their identical appearances and predilection for wonderfully complimentary poses, the two maintained distinct personalities. As Feature Shoot explained: "Where István was more gregarious, János was more of the silent and stoic type; István preferred to keep the house, and János cared mostly for the animals. Neither ever married."

The beautiful series, simply titled "The Twins," captures the simple and poignant days of two men in the Hungarian countryside. An ode to farm life and familial love.

The 'Largest Crowdsourced Drawing' In Existence Attempts To Illustrate The Entire Internet

Earlier this year, a man named Benjamin Redford boldly went where no artist has dared go before, creating a piece called "Internetopia" that claimed to be a portrait of the entire internet. The content for the image was crowdsourced from 220 users around the globe via Kickstarter, making the masterpiece the largest crowdsourced drawing in existence.

And now, the whole dizzying shebang is in color.

internet

"I read lot of sci-fi so I'm pretty fascinated by the idea of cyberspace," Redford perviously explained to The Huffington Post. "However it's mostly portrayed as infinite, clean, grid systems. I liked the idea of making a more 'human' version, made up by people around the world. Although looking over the completed artwork now, it seems to resemble something completely different."

There were three rules to the artwork:

1. Each square cost $1 on Kickstarter. Anyone could buy a square and dictate to the artist what would be drawn there.

2. People could reserve as many squares as they liked.

3. Anyone could ask for anything to be drawn. Anything.

The final work measured in at roughly eight by five feet and 3,012 cubes. Just like the internet it's modeled after, the drawing is full of randomness, absurdity, vulgarity -- and cats. More specifically, it features crowd-sourced ideas including "a cat eating a hot dog sitting in an upright position, sitting on a stack of cats attached together by a belt with balloons on strings floating in the sky" and "a hot sand-desert with a man lying somewhere not in center, legs and hands spread. Happy or dead, it's unknown. A horse nearby, standing with a head lowered, tired of a long walk." There's also "Elvis Presley shouting 'Linda!'" and an "Italian greyhound smoking a pipe."

You can see the entire list of requests here.

If you were curious what color the cat eating the hot dog was... your prayers have recently been answered. You can purchase the color version of "Internetopia" here.

8 Things You Didn't Know About The Super Bowl, Even If You Watch Every Year

Although you watch it every year, what do you really know about the Super Bowl?

This Sunday, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks are facing off in Super Bowl XLIX. The Super Bowl has a long history of memorable moments, and, with Marshawn Lynch's Skittles and the Patriots (maybe) deflated balls alone, even more memorable moments are certainly bound to happen this weekend.

But before everything goes down this time around, here are eight things you can learn about the game and share at your viewing party ... even if your favorite part is actually the commercials.

1. Someone has snuck into over 30 Super Bowls including the very first championship.

461728956

Dion Rich has gate-crashed many, many big events including the Oscars and Olympics, but he has snuck into the Super Bowl the most. In a 1993 Los Angeles Times profile, Rich explained his motives, "It was my hobby. The guys at home expected me to be on the tube or in the papers every year. I couldn't let them down. I made it on TV or in some publication in 21 of the first 22 Super Bowls." In the photo above, you can see rich even hoisting Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry after they won Super Bowl XII.

Unfortunately, security knows his face these days, checkpoints have increased since 2001, and Rich is no longer able to crash the Super Bowl. According to NY Daily News, his last successful attempt was the New Orleans Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002. Even in the '90s, Rich told the Los Angeles Times:

After so many years it gets to be a real job. People see me on the sidelines all the time and think it's easy. It's not easy, it takes a lot of conniving and ingenuity and contacts. Every year they made it tougher ... It just wasn't that much fun anymore.

2. The first person to say, "I'm going to Disney World!" really didn't want to do it at first.

71157527

USA Today's For The Win caught up with former Giants quarterback Phil Simms in 2014 to talk about how this first Disney plug came together. Perhaps surprisingly, Simms didn't have much interest in being a part of the campaign: “I didn’t want to do it," he said. "I just thought that was wrong trying to do something like that.”

Simms was named MVP of Super Bowl XXI in 1987 and he remembered just being happy about winning the game when the cameras caught him to do the commercial. “Of course I’m smiling because we won, and the other reason is because I can’t believe I’m doing this," Simms told For The Win.

For his role in the commercial, Simms was paid $50,000 and Disney did in fact send his family to Disney World.

In 2008, SF Gate profiled Mark Allan, the camera person who typically rushes on to the field to get the line from the Super Bowl winner, including the first one with Simms. Apparently the person in the commercial has to repeat the line a few times and says both Disney Land and World so the commercial can be targeted to each coast. While trying to capture the players, Simms basically just keeps saying, "Look in the lens."

3. Joe Montana once calmed his team down before a Super Bowl-winning drive by pointing to the stands and joking, "Isn't that John Candy?"

77620418

It was the 1989 Super Bowl and Joe Montana's San Francisco 49ers were trailing the Cincinnati Bengals with time running out. According to legend, the 49ers offense were understandably nervous as they had to trek down almost the entire field to score. As Rolling Stone recounted, Montana apparently knew the right words to say to his team to calm their nerves. In a huddle, Montana began pointing to the crowd, saying, "There, in the stands, standing near the exit ramp ... Isn't that John Candy?"

It hasn't been confirmed whether John Candy was truly in the stands during that game, but, in any case, Montana led the offense 92 yards down the field to score a winning touchdown with just 34 seconds left on the clock.

4. Both "Little Giants" and "Space Jam" were created out of successful Super Bowl commercials.

466857949

Ad people Jim Ferguson and Bob Shallcross created a McDonald's advertisement for the 1992 Super Bowl about pee wee football that ended up catching legendary director Steven Spielberg's attention. In a 1994 Baltimore Sun article, it was said that Ferguson came into the office one day and was simply told to give Spielberg a call. Ferguson thought it was a practical joke at first, but ended up getting Spielberg on the line. Spielberg apparently said, "I want that commercial made into a movie. I want my 'Home Alone.'"

In 1994, Ferguson also told the Chicago Tribune, "Ninety seconds and Steven Spielberg changed our lives," referring to himself and his partner Shallcross. Both of them ended up working with Spielberg to develop "Little Giants."

The Nike and MCI commercial "Hare Jordan" was another Super Bowl commercial that led to a movie. At the end of "Hare Jordan," Bugs Bunny tells Michael Jordan, "This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!" This obviously ended up being the case as the two were together again for the movie "Space Jam."

5. During the first Super Bowl, NBC accidentally missed the taping of a kickoff and so the whole play was reset for the cameras.

77764299

During Super Bowl I, in 1967, both NBC and CBS had television rights to the game since NBC had a deal with the AFL and CBS the NFL. The game was between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs and would have to be partially reset at one point due to a screw up by NBC.

As Rolling Stone recounted, the problem happened when the game was coming back from half time and NBC was still televising an interview with comedian Bob Hope. NBC failed to switch to the game fast enough so it was decided that the kickoff Green Bay had just completed would be entirely redone.

Green Bay would end up winning the game and as mentioned before, Dion Rich's gate crashing ways enabled him to see it all go down.

6. A star player missed the Super Bowl due to a cocaine binge the night before.

347119

The previously mentioned 1989 Super Bowl, in which Joe Montana apparently spotted John Candy in the crowd, had another notable aspect to it. Montana might not have even gotten the chance to make a comeback though if the Cincinnati Bengals offense had had all their players to begin with.

Stanley Wilson was a running back for the Bengals who had already had two strikes from the league for drug use. He had made it through this preceding season without a problem, getting tested multiple times a week. This self control unfortunately only lasted until the night before the Super Bowl as Wilson succumbed to what Rolling Stone described as a "crack-cocaine binge."

A Cincinnati Enquirer article from 1999 looked into the night surrounding Wilson's decision and detailed how it almost didn't even happen. Wilson,on his way to a team meeting with other players, stopped and said, "I forgot my playbook. I'll meet you guys downstairs." Wilson headed back to the room and didn't return.

As this was Wilson's third strike, he was given a lifetime ban from playing in the NFL.

7. The Baltimore Ravens ended up winning the Super Bowl after referring to the game as "Festivus" the whole season instead.

459284751

Festivus might be for the rest of us, but, in 2001, the "Seinfeld"-created holiday was especially for the Baltimore Ravens.

As the book Festivus: The Holiday for the Rest of Us details, the superstitious head coach of the Ravens, Brian Billick, forbade his team from referencing the Super Bowl and playoffs throughout that season. Since logistically this became a problem, offensive lineman Edwin Multialo proposed calling the big game "Festivus Maximus" instead. The term stuck and then the Ravens went on to win "Festivus Maximus" in what was probably one of the biggest celebrations of the holiday yet.

Later in 2001, The Baltimore Sun even referred to the event as "Festivus Ravenous!"

8. The referees that officiate the Super Bowl also get rings.

52286160

These referee rings aren't quite the same as the rings that players get, but they're certainly still a point of pride. Mike Pereira of Fox Sports explained in a 2014 article:

The Super Bowl ring. The officials get Super Bowl rings just like the players do. They aren't as big as the players' rings, but they are still valuable pieces of jewelry. These rings mean the world to the officials and they wear them with such pride.

The American Profile also wrote about Super Bowl referees in 2012 and had retired NFL referee Jim Tunney show them his three Super Bowl rings. Referee Gerald Austin was quoted in that article as saying these refs aren't given much advance notice they'll be officiating the Super Bowl. "They called me about 11 days before the Super Bowl XXIV," said Austin.

BONUS: According to legend, the Super Bowl got its name from the "Super Ball" toy.

52286160

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has had a super ball (shown in the photo above) on display to commemorate Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt's apparent coining of the game name after his children's toy. According to Henry D. Fetter of The Atlantic, when Fetter was asked how he originally came up with the name, he said, "My own feeling is that it probably registered in my head because my daughter Sharron and my son Lamar Jr. had a children's toy called a Super Ball and I probably interchanged the phonetics of "bowl" and "ball."

But Fetter doesn't believe that Hunt actually came up with the name. Going by Hunt's account, by the time he said "Super Bowl," the term was already starting to take off in newspapers to refer to the previously unnamed championship game. Fetter believes that there is no clear person to point to as the origin and instead the name was sort of collectively decided.

For what it's worth, according to the Chiefs media page, Hunt is also credited with coming up using Roman numerals in the name and putting Coach Vince Lombardi's name on the trophy.

Super-Ancient Solar System Sparks New Thinking About Search For Alien Life

Since it was launched in 2009, NASA's planet-hunting Kepler Space Telescope has identified more than 1,000 exoplanets and almost 4,200 exoplanet "candidates." It's even found entire solar systems--but never one like the system it just identified some 117 light-years from Earth.

The newfound solar system consists of five rocky, Earth-sized planets circling a star called Kepler-444, which--at 11.2 million years of age--is more than twice as old as the Sun.

Astronomers say the Kepler-444 system may help scientists pinpoint when Earth-like planets first started forming, and may have important implications for the possibility of alien life.

"There are far-reaching implications for this discovery," Dr. Tiago Campante, a research fellow at the University of Birmingham and one of the astronomers who helped discover the new system, said in a written statement. "We now know that Earth-sized planets have formed throughout most of the Universe's 13.8-billion-year history, which could provide scope for the existence of ancient life in the Galaxy."

(Story continues below image.)

kepler 444

Artist's conception of Kepler-444, which hosts five Earth-sized planets in compact orbits. The planets were detected from the dimming that occurs when they transit in front of their parent star, as shown here.

Campante and his colleagues detected the ancient star system system by looking at data collected by Kepler over a four-year period. They used a technique called asteroseismology, in which small changes in a star's brightness indicate its mass, age, and diameter. They detected the five planets using what's called transit photometry, which involves observing a star dim slightly when planets cross its face (see an animation here).

The five planets are in tight orbits around Kepler-444, which means they're too close to fall within the so-called "Goldilocks zone," the region of space around a star that is warm enough but not too warm for a planet to have liquid water and, possibly, life.

Though Kepler-444 can't support life, Campante says it's possible there are other ancient solar systems out there that might.

"Other similarly old planets could indeed harbor life," he said in an email to The Huffington Post. "Think about a technologically advanced civilization that has a few billion years head start relative to us!"

Other scientists, who were not involved in the new research, have their doubts.

"It is not clear that planets much older than the Earth have a higher expectation of having life than the more recently formed planets," William Borucki, a space scientist at the NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif told HuffPost in an email. "The discovery of Kepler-444 is important, but whether it implies advanced life or no life will remain a mystery until our technology advances to the point that we can get a definitive answer."

Regardless of whether the discovery makes alien life more or less likely, Dr. Seth Shostak, senior astronomer and director of the Center for SETI Research in Mountain View, Calif., hopes the discovery will help E.T. hunters home in on where to look.

"The implication of this is that worlds of all ages are out there, and the average planet is going to be billions of years older than our own," he told HuffPost in an email. "Complex, thinking beings required 4 billion years of evolution on Earth. If clever creatures always take a long time to appear, then older planets might be preferred hunting grounds for signals that could tell us someone’s out there.”

A paper describing the discovery has been accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal.

Check out the podcast below for an interview with William Borucki, and learn more about the amazing story behind NASA's planet-hunting Kepler mission.

Here's How To Get Every Last Bit Of Peanut Butter Out Of The Jar (This Is Genius)

The worst, worst, worst, worst, worst thing about peanut butter is the construction of its jar. Nothing else is bad about peanut butter; it's one of the world's most divine edibles. It satisfies a salty craving, it makes for exquisite sandwiches and it can help keep you full for long periods of time.

But, when you reach the last licks of a jar (which is devastating on its own), the remnants of the nutty spread are near impossible to wrangle. No utensil is agile enough to scrape the remaining bits, and not even a toddler's hand is slim enough to fit all the way through the jar. In most cases, this quandary results in tossing out the jar while there's still some perfectly good peanut butter inside. It doesn't feel right, but it seems there are no other options.

empty peanut butter

Worst. Thing. Ever.

Flickr/paperlibrarian

But there are alternatives to discarding the jar while there's still a bit of nutty goodness leftover. In fact, there are two tricks. We've already discussed overnight oats, which soak up the peanut butter into a mixture of oats, milk and other delectable toppings to craft a perfect breakfast. But overnight oats require patience and a bit of elbow grease. For instant gratification, saw the jar in half. Really!

crack open pb

Facebook/Chandler Bolt

Hallelujah, right? It's so simple, so obvious in hindsight. Just locate an X ACTO knife or a regular kitchen knife and carefully slice the jar in half on a cutting board. Be careful not to scrape your hands on the rough plastic edges. Of course, this trick won't work with glass jars (sad). You could smash it against a wall, but then you'd be eating more glass shards than peanut butter, and from a medical perspective that just isn't safe.

Sales Call From Las Vegas Leads To Rescue Of Beaten Oregon Woman

LEBANON, Ore. (AP) -- A lucky sales call from a Las Vegas, Nevada, company led deputies to rescue a 33-year-old Oregon woman who was being beaten and strangled, a sheriff says.

Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley said the Lebanon, Oregon, victim didn't intentionally answer her phone, the Albany Democrat-Herald reported. It was in her pocket and somehow picked up the sales call Wednesday during the attack.

The concerned saleswoman turned to her boss at Americare Health, who tracked down the woman's address from previous sales and contacted Oregon law enforcement officers.

Deputies arrived and arrested the woman's ex-boyfriend. They say the man let her go when they arrived and she ran out the front door.

"At the very least it was lucky," Riley said. "At the most it might have been providence."

On Thursday, Walter Warren Ruck, 33, of Lebanon, was charged in Circuit Court with fourth-degree assault and strangulation, both misdemeanors. He's due back in court Feb. 17.

The saleswoman was doing follow-up with the customer and told Americare Health president and CEO Mario Gonzalez that she had a concerning call, the newspaper reported.

"She said she heard the lady being beaten," Gonzalez said. "I jumped on the phone. I could hear the lady screaming and getting hit over and over again, her screaming and begging for her life."

His call to Lebanon city police was transferred to the sheriff's office since the address was outside city limits.

Gonzalez said he continued to listen to the assault until deputies arrived.

Deputies knocked repeatedly and could hear a woman calling for help and a male voice telling her to be quiet, Riley said.

They entered through the unlocked front door, believing the woman's life was in jeopardy, the sheriff said.

The victim told investigators she had moved out of the man's home two days earlier because of ongoing fights. According to deputies' reports, she said the man lured her back by saying he was sick and needed help.

At the court hearing, prosecutor Michael Wynhausen said Ruck told authorities the woman was having mental health issues, he was trying to help her and she had fallen.

The sheriff praised Gonzalez and Americare for their efforts.

"If this guy hadn't have gone the extra mile, we're not sure what would have happened," Riley said.

Lebanon is a small town in western Oregon's Willamette Valley.

Larry Markword Reappointed To County Board Despite Dying In 2012

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Officials in western Pennsylvania are trying to figure out how a man who's been dead for more than two years wound up being reappointed to a county industrial authority board.

Fayette County officials said Wednesday it seemed they never tried checking in with Larry Markwood before reappointing him. He died in August 2012.

County commissioners say they conducted interviews with candidates and received letters from members who want to be reappointed or leave the board, but Markwood slipped through the cracks.

The industrial authority hadn't met since 2010, so attendance records would have been of no use.

Commissioner chairman Vincent Zapotosky tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review they'll be smarter about the reappointment process in the future.

Sarris Candies Makes Deflated Chocolate Football

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania candy maker is getting a big kick out of the New England Patriots' scandal over some deflated footballs.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter (http://bit.ly/1wzxQsz ) reports that Bill Sarris had his Canonsburg staff make a chocolate football with a big dent in the side. It's not for sale, but he posted it on Facebook as a joke.

It's named the Bradie ball. That's B-R-A-D-I-E to avoid any legal issues.

The picture's caption says, "Net weight 13 lbs ... Oops! We meant 11.2 lbs."

The Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady have been accused of using underinflated footballs in the AFC Championship game. They play Sunday in the Super Bowl.

Sarris won't explain how the chocolate got its deflated appearance.

He says only, "You'll have to ask the Patriots how they did it."

What Newly Single Men Should Never Wear On A Date, According To Women

You're finally getting back into the dating scene after divorce or a long relationship and not quite sure what to wear on your first date. Is that sports jacket with the elbow pads you've had forever a little too stuffy? Should you just bite the bullet and buy that damn gingham shirt your son and all his friends seem to have?

Howard Stern Has Never Farted In Front Of His Wife

Fartman himself has never farted in front of his wife.

Howard Stern's wife Beth, who married the shock jock 2008, said in a HuffPost Live interview Thursday that her husband has not farted in front of her once during their 15-year relationship.

"We don't do that in front of each other," Beth told host Ricky Camilleri with a laugh. "The 'Fartman' has yet to fart in front of his wife ... We don't go to the bathroom in front of each other, we don't do that. Some things are left for private."

Anyone in a long-term relationship or marriage might find that hard to believe. But Stern, who sat down with Camilleri to talk about the upcoming Kitten Bowl that she's hosting, maintained that while there might have been an unintentional fart here or there, none have been memorable or intentional.

"Maybe like an accidental one in the middle of the night," she said. "But never deliberate."

'World's Poorest President' Stops His Car To Give Hitchhiker A Ride

A hitchhiker was caught off-guard when a world leader offered to give him a lift.

Gerhald Acosta was looking for a ride on his way home from his job at a paper mill plant in southwestern Uruguay, earlier this month. He later explained in a Facebook post that though several cars passed him, an SUV with a government license plate pulled over, according to RT.com. Upon getting inside, Acosta realized that Uruguayan President Jose Mujica and his wife, Sen. Lucia Topolansky, were in the vehicle.

"I know this woman. It was Lucia, with Manuela the dog, and Pepe (Jose) in the front seat," Acosta told El Observador, according to Fox News Latino. "I couldn't believe it. The president was giving me a ride."

The president and his wife had been on their way to their residence when they picked Acosta up, according to El Observador. The hitchhiker said that Mujica was concerned about why Acosta, who had to return home unexpectedly, needed a ride.

Acosta said that though the ride was a brief one, he was moved by the couple's gesture.

"When I got out, I thanked them profusely because not everyone helps someone out on the road, and much less a president," he told El Observador.

While Mujica's decision to pick up the hitchhiker was a kind one, the leader is widely known for his acts of compassion. During a television interview in Montevideo last November, Mujica paused to give money to a man in need.

The leader has even been nicknamed "the world's poorest president," thanks to his decision to donate 90 percent of his salary to charity. When speaking about the money he actually keeps, Mujica told El Mundo, according to Univision's translation, "I do fine with that amount; I have to do fine because there are many Uruguayans who live with much less."

Here's How Fast The Marijuana Industry Is Growing, In 5 Charts

The marijuana industry is booming, and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down in the near future.

Legal marijuana is the fastest-growing industry in the United States, according to a new report from researchers at The ArcView Group, a cannabis industry investment and research firm based in Oakland, California. In the next two years, a flurry of states are expected to consider the legalization of recreational marijuana. A majority of Americans continue to support full legalization, nationally, and by 2016, it's entirely possible that marijuana could be a wedge issue in the presidential election.

"These are exciting times, and new millionaires and possibly billionaires are about to be made, while simultaneously society will become safer and freer," Troy Dayton, CEO of The ArcView Group and publisher of the third edition of the State of Legal Marijuana Markets, said in the executive summary of the report. "We believe that the development of a responsible, politically engaged, and profitable, legal cannabis industry will hasten the day when not a single adult in the world is punished for this plant."

ArcView surveyed hundreds of medical and recreational marijuana retailers in states where sales are legal, as well as ancillary business operators and independent cultivators of the plant. They also compiled data from state agencies, nonprofit organizations and private companies in the marijuana industry for a more complete look at the marketplace.

Here's five charts that show just how fast the marijuana industry is growing, courtesy of ArcView Market Research:

1. This map shows how many states have legalized recreational marijuana and are likely to legalize by 2020.

2. This map shows how many states have legalized medical marijuana and which ones are expected to do so by 2016.

3. This chart shows that California has the largest marijuana market. Right now only medical marijuana is legal, but the state is expected to have a recreational legalization measure in 2016. If voters approve it, the industry could quickly double in size.

Nick Offerman Pumps Up America About NASCAR In Hilarious Super Bowl Ad

NASCAR racing is patriotic, tough-as-nails, meat-on-the-grill fun.

At least, that’s the claim being made by comedian Nick Offerman in this over-the-top NASCAR ad created by NBC Sports.

“Welcome to the place where we speed all day, where we bump and grind in a non-sexual way,” Offerman recites in the clip. “Where scores are settled, and we break the rules, and everybody's got a set of badass tools.”

The ad, which has already been watched more than 900,000 times on YouTube, will make its TV debut during NBC’s coverage of the Super Bowl this weekend. Watch the entire spot in the video above.

Suspect Stewart Charles McNeal Tells Police He Wasn't 'Good At The Robbery Thing'

He gets points for honesty.

A man who allegedly attempted to rob a Dunkin' Donuts admitted to police that he "wasn't very good at the robbery thing."

Stewart Charles McNeal, 34, turned himself in last Thursday after police in Delray Beach, Florida, circulated a surveillance photo of a robbery of the donut store that took place Jan. 21, WPTV reports.

McNeal allegedly entered the Dunkin' Donuts around 12:20 .m. wearing a mask. Cops said he waited in line for several minutes before going up to the counter with a gun in hand.

The clerk ignored him and attended to another customer, the Palm Beach Post reports.

At one point, cops said, McNeal pulled off his mask and continued to wait for the employee to acknowledge him so he could commence with the robbery.

McNeal allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from a cash register and asked an employee to "forgive him." He allegedly left in a Honda Accord that was driven by an accomplice the suspect called "Chris," CBS12 reports. The driver is still on the loose, according to police.

McNeal told police when he saw photos of himself everywhere, he figured the jig was up and turned himself in. He allegedly said the robbery was strictly to feed his drug habit, and admitted he "wasn't very good at the robbery thing," WPTV reports.

McNeal is being held on a $20,000 bond on a charge of robbery with a firearm.

Anyone with information on McNeal's suspected accomplice is asked to call Delray police at (561) 243-7800, or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.

The Sabertooth Opener Will Be Your Best Friend For Shotgunning Beers

If you thought The Snapshotr, a shot glass that effortlessly combines a shot and a chaser, was reason enough to go back to college, just wait until you meet The Sabertooth.

sabertooth

Advertised on its Kickstarter page as "the ultimate beer drinker's tool," it's easy to see why The Sabertooth also calls itself "the world's best shotgunning tool."

For those of you who weren't "fun" in college, shotgunning is when you hold a beer horizontally, poke a hole in the can, pop the top and drink it faster than your friends can.

It can also make a massive mess if you cut a poorly-sized hole (aka beer everywhere) or a hole that could cut you, leaving you bleeding from the lips. But no longer will you embarrass yourself as The Sabertooth will make shotgunning a tidy breeze:

And when you're not shotgunning, you can use The Sabertooth as a plain ole' bottle or can opener, or use it to make a punch top. Like most bottle openers, it'll fit right on your keychain.

Originally called "The Beer Tusk," this beer tool was developed by Wyatt Thurston and Scott Arellano, who perfected the shape of The Sabertooth with the help of two UCLA engineers.

BroBible describes it as "the equivalent of having a wizard’s magic staff on your keychain." It will be sold for anywhere from $9-$14 (prices also vary depend on the package you get).

Our only regret is that these babies won't be ready in time for the Super Bowl.

Is It Time To Kill The K-Cup, Before It Kills Our Planet?

Your Keurig coffee pods have a dirty little secret. Actually, make that a big secret.

In 2013, Keurig Green Mountain produced 8.3 billion K-Cups that were brewed on millions of machines around the world -- enough to circle to globe 10.5 times. Last year, production rose to nearly 9.8 billion, and most of those pods are not recyclable.

A new video made by Canadian production company Egg Studios takes a look at the environmental impact our coffee addiction has created. Titled "Kill The K-Cup," the short showcases a dystopian future where a single-use coffee pod monster destroys everything in its path.

Single-brew machines may be a convenient alternative to the traditional coffee pot or French press, but the actually price of the beans inside the pods can reach upwards of $50 a pound, according to The New York Times. Despite the cost and lack of sustainability, Keurig says on its website that it plans for all of its K-Cups to be completely recyclable by 2020.

Think Twice Before You Binge Watch All Those Lifetime Movies On Netflix

mid

Depending on your usual viewing preferences, you've noticed the ambush of Lifetime movies recently added to Netflix. There's "The Eleventh Victim," "A Killer Among Us" and "Restless Virgins" (no, really) in addition to "true story" titles referencing everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Laci Peterson. The list is longer than Rapunzel's hair (though, make no mistakes, if Lifetime took on "The Rapunzel Story," she'd likely chop it all off mid-crisis).

The tropes churned out by their apparent made-for-TV movie factory has made the Lifetime movie synonymous with the device of the "movie of the week." In the '80s and '90s, major networks were left scrambling for the rights to the (usually true crime) stories-cum-melodrama. Now, Lifetime has developed such a strong grasp on the waning genre that they were already well into production on the Jodi Arias movie before her official verdict. And there's a major issue there. When real peoples' lives are involved, you can't chalk up this kind of exploitative entertainment to just simple guilty-pleasure binge watching.

224life

Let's talk specifically about the true-crime sector (if only because it feels wrong to do too much analysis surrounding something called "Another Woman's Husband" or "The Cheerleader-Murdering Mother"). Two of the biggest-name films in this category (both on Netflix now) are "Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial In Italy" and "Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret."

In "Dirty Little Secret," Lifetime refuses to scrape past the surface of Arias' story. Instead, they take the most basic perception of her persona and boil it down to the "Psycho Ex-Girlfriend" archetype, sprinkled with lingerie and several blow jobs. "Okay, maybe there was some confusion here," she says to Travis Alexander (Jesse Lee Soffer) eyes widening as she zeroes in on her new obsession. "I was just suggesting that we go up to your room, tear off each other's clothes, oil each other down and see how quickly we can turn your bed into splinters." As Geoff Berkshire wrote in his review for Variety: "'Secret' has no qualms about portraying Arias the way most armchair jurors already see her: as a 'Fatal Attraction'-level bonkers femme fatale."

Another example is Hayden Panettiere's fall from "Heroes" with "Murder On Trial In Italy." Meredith Kercher's parents spoke out over the "absolutely horrific" images the film contained of their daughter's murder. Eventually, the controversial scene was cut. Yet, Lifetime went ahead with airing the film, opting to reduce Knox's intricate relationship to the events leading to Kercher's death to the story of a "Damsel In Distress," bullied by the Italian criminal justice system. (Nope, no time to feel sorry for the young woman who had her throat slit, that might confuse your ability to see Knox as a victim.)

224liz

What both of these films do is reduce their leading ladies to one-dimensional aspects of themselves, with no concern for anything outside of producing spoon-fed salaciousness. There's no point in speculating whether Arias or Knox are guilty or innocent, or even whether they deserve our sympathy. They are real people, and prostituting their stories in this way is derivative and exploitative.

If the ickiness of cashing in on these true stories isn't enough to make you spit out your Pinot, maybe the fact that it all occurs on the network "for women" should be. A person who watched the Lifetime channel and only the Lifetime channel would be quickly convinced that we live in a world where every female is either a Rape / Incest / Domestic Abuse Victim or just a Crazy Bitch. That doesn't mean we can never watch Lifetime again or expect the network to eventually go into production on "A Noble Education: The Malala Yousafzai Story." But representations of women (especially real life ones!) have an impact. And it's important to apply that critical lens when watching, or at least remember this is a channel that has explored the wronged-woman-seeking redemption arc for decades, and still fails to surpass the narrative complexity of "The Princess And The Pea."

If Humans Suddenly Disappeared From The Planet, Here's What Could Happen

What would happen if all humans suddenly vanished from the face of the planet? That freaky thought experiment is explored in a new video from YouTube's AsapSCIENCE (see above).

The video details things that might happen -- from shortly after our disappearance to thousands of years after the fact. Cities would be wiped out by fire or other natural disasters, and even the sturdiest buildings and other man-made structures would eventually crumble.

Our pets probably wouldn't fare so well either, having a hard time holding their own against wolves and other predators. On the positive side, other remaining species -- even those whose populations have been decimated by human activity -- might bounce back.

The atmosphere might bounce back too, although certain pollutants would stick around for a very long time.

It’s a sobering thought, indeed.

Former Oregon State Student Allegedly Filmed Porn Video In Campus Library

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- A 19-year-old woman has been accused of recording an adult film in the main campus library at Oregon State University.

OSU spokesman Steve Clark says the university learned about the video Tuesday, but it apparently was recorded during the fall semester and posted on the Web.

Clark says Oregon State Police investigated and charged the woman with public indecency.

The Oregonian reports ( http://bit.ly/1yQp0fp ) that she was enrolled in the fall but is no longer a student.

Although the library is patrolled by campus security and police, the film was recorded on the sixth floor, which can't be monitored all the time.

New Dinosaur Species Discovered In China Takes Long Necks To A Whole New Level

A new dinosaur species discovered in China is being called "extreme"--and for good reason. The dino's neck is so long that it makes up more than half of the creature's huge 49-foot-long body.

The dinosaur--dubbed Qijianglong guokr, or "dragon of Qijiang"--is believed to have roamed Asia about 160 million years ago in the Late Jurassic Period. It was identified by skull and vertebrae fossils unearthed in 2006 by construction workers near Quiang City in the southern part of the country.

(Story continues below image.)

long neck dinosaur china

Artist's conception of Qijianglong being chased by two carnivorous dinosaurs in southern China 160 million years ago.

"If you imagine a big animal that is half neck, you can see that evolution can do quite extraordinary things," Tetsuto Miyashita, a Ph.D. student at the University of Alberta in Canada and a member of the team of scientists who identified the dinosaur, said in a written statement. “Qijianglong shows that long-necked dinosaurs diversified in unique ways in Asia during Jurassic times—something very special was going on in that continent."

Qijianglong is believed to belong to mamenchisauridae, a family of dinosaurs known for extremely long necks. But unlike most mamenchisaurids, Qijianglong had vertebrae that were hollow and so tightly linked that the dinosaur's neck is believed to have been stiff like a construction crane.

A paper describing the newly identified dinosaur was published online in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology on Jan. 26, 2015.
