It was 50 years ago Thursday that The Beatles released their groundbreaking album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” in Great Britain.
The U.S. release came a day later, to much critical acclaim.
In the five decades since, “Sgt. Pepper” has been the subject of books, documentaries and debates over whether the album is the greatest album of all time.
When music experts choose not to pick the album as No. 1, they have to spend a few paragraphs explaining why it wasn’t given the top spot.
As a tribute to this great record, here’s a different version of it: All the songs are in the original order but performed by artists influenced by The Beatles, rather than the Fab Four themselves.
