Creative Dad Slays Lunch Bag Game With Awesome Doodles

When your kid's school asks you to make sure your daughter's name is on her lunch bag every day, you could invest in a label maker ... or, you could turn lunchtime into an experience by creating a thoughtful and hilarious message on each bag.

Ryan Myers, a copywriter who lives in the suburbs of Phoenix, wanted to have fun with the chore, breaking out of the monotony of writing his 9-year-old daughter Lilith's name on her bag each day. So, he started writing messages and including drawings on his third grader's brown paper bags, most of which pointed to some aspect of geek culture.

"I did it the first day, just to be silly and make her laugh. I took a picture to share on Facebook, because I figured our friends would get a kick out of it," he told The Huffington Post via email. "She asked me to do another one the next day, and it just kind of went from there. Some of our friends get mad if I don’t do one, now."

The collection of 53 images, which he recently shared on photo sharing site Imgur, is full of popular film, television and gaming references. Messages are varied and represent "Star Wars," "Back to the Future" and "The Terminator" to name a few, though some of the bags just list silly ideas such as "Lilith's zombie repellent."

"She loves them. She’s saved every one, in a box in her room. I know a lot of people don’t think she gets the references, but she does," Myers said.

His favorite is the "Nightmare on Elm Street" one, which took him two bags to make, though he also suggested that would be the one most likely to elicit an angry letter from a concerned parent.

We've selected a sampling of our favorites for you to see here, but you can head over to Imgur to see the entire collection. Of course, as long as Lilith keeps eating lunch, there's always hope for more.
