Spotted Skunk Does A Handstand And Dances In Front Of Wildlife Camera

Watch out for this guy -- he means business

A spotted skunk was caught on a wildlife camera at Happy Valley in Saguaro National Park in Arizona, standing on its hands and dancing around. The footage, captured over the summer, was posted on social media by the agency this week.

The little creature wasn't being playful, though. It was trying to be intimidating.

"Like the other three groups of skunks, spotted skunks are capable of spraying a strong unpleasant scent as a form of defense," the U.S. Department of the Interior wrote in its description on Instagram. "But before spraying, spotted skunks will sometimes go into a handstand and attempt to intimidate any would-be aggressors."

In this case, the skunk seems to think the unmanned wildlife camera is a potential predator.

It's not clear if the camera got sprayed. But if you ever see a spotted skunk doing a handstand, hightail it in the other direction... unless you plan to smell like skunk for a while.
