Here's what happens when you turn to the Dark Side

In one of the most surreal election scenes anywhere in the galaxy, "Chewbacca" was arrested in the Ukraine on Sunday while campaigning for Darth Vader.

The person dressed as the legendary Wookie was reportedly accused of violating a law that forbids campaigning on election day.

Chewbacca even appeared in court, looking just a little worse for the wear:

RT said the incident happened in Odessa, and that Chewbacca was fined the equivalent of $7.50. However, he told the media he was unable to pay "as his funds are an intergalactic bank that has no branches on this planet."

The Daily Dot reports that Darth Vader is the legal name of a candidate for mayor in Odessa, as part of the country's Internet Party, which has a history of campaigns themed to "Star Wars" including several candidates for various offices named Darth Vader.

On Friday, an artist unveiled a statue of Vladimir Lenin that had been given a Sith makeover.
